You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in human services field preferred
- Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in other languages spoken by IRC clients desired
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle
- Must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work product
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
The Benefits Coordinator will provide comprehensive services related to public benefits, including SNAP and Medicaid, cash assistance, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Women, Children, Infant (WIC) program ensuring clients are enrolled based on their eligibility within the required time frames, as required by the Reception and Placement (R&P) Cooperative Agreement. This role involves close collaboration with the caseworkers, employment specialists, the Department of Economic Security (DES), and other local stakeholders.
Major Responsibilities:
Client Services:
• Provide comprehensive support to IRC clients enrolling in SNAP, Medicaid, cash assistance, SSI, and WIC programs, based on their eligibility.
• Review benefit applications for accuracy,
• Prepare and conduct enrollment meetings, ensuring clients understand their rights and responsibilities regarding benefits.
• Ensure timely enrollment in public benefits to meet all deadlines as required by the R&P Cooperative Agreement.
• Conduct monthly check-ins to assess client needs and track ongoing eligibility for benefits.
• Prepare enrollment packages and case closure documentation in compliance with policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and ensure timely submission of all reports, as needed.
Coordination:
• Collaborate closely with caseworkers and employment specialists to support clients in accessing public benefits.
• Attend DES meetings to coordinate with stakeholders, including quarterly consultations and training events.
• Communicate trends in resettlement and client needs to leadership, DES and other service providers.
• Stay informed about regulations governing public assistance programs and related benefits to provide accurate guidance to clients.

External: Community partners, sub-grantees, stakeholder partners, state refugee health coordinator, DES, DCS, medical providers
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study preferred.
Work Experience:
• Relevant professional experience in human services field required; minimum of 2 years’ experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.

• Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
• Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
• Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by IRC’s clients is desired; including Dari, Farsi, and/or Pashto, Arabic, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Spanish, Burmese and Rohingya.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research and problem-solving purposes.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
• In accordance with Arizona State Law, must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card.
Working Environment:
• A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
• May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Compensation:
Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
