The BMA Consultant will provide technology support for Technology for Development initiatives mainly with Programmes, where systems developed in-house or via 3rd party need maintenance and technical supervision ensuring timely and efficient delivery of services to beneficiaries based on Programme needs. This expands also to office automation initiatives to improve electronic services.

How can you make a difference?

Tasks/Milestone: Deliverables/Outputs: Timeline Makani - Education - Integrating Makani Dashboard - Integration of the new main page

  • Makani Dashboard developed, tested, and delivered.
  • New main page developed, tested, and delivered.

1 week- Adding/linking Geographical Information to Makani centers. - Creating new GIL form.

  • Geographical Information linked to Makani centers.
  • New GIL form developed, tested, and delivered.

1 week- Linking Makani to ActivityInfo/NeuroDB.

  • All the required development are completed, and linkage tested and delivered.

1 month

  • Develop solutions for referrals (Integration with RIMS or develop a referral module)

  • RIMS integrated with Makani or new module developed, with testing and delivery of information.

1 month- New Enhancement Implementation (Database views, Forms, kobo form, user privileges, export). - New enhancements based on programme needs and Partners feedback.

  • New Enhancement (Database views, Forms, kobo form, user privileges, export) implemented, tested, and delivered.

1.5 month- Integrating Cash MIS API in Makani

  • Cash MIS API integrated in Makani, with testing and delivery of information.

2 weeksDirasa – Education - Upgrade the interface to the new BMA layout design

  • Interface upgraded, tested, and delivered.

1 month- New Enhancement implementation (Database views, Forms, kobo form, user privileges, export). - New enhancements based on programme needs and Partners feedback.

  • New Enhancement (Database views, Forms, kobo form, user privileges, export) implemented, tested, and delivered.

1.5 months- Creating students Attendance Data Report Form

  • Student Data Report developed, tested, and delivered.

1 week- Incorporating new grading criteria in the Dirasa Pre and Post assessment forms - Creating new Midterm assessment form to include evaluation grades and fields. - Updating and enhancing Post assessment form. - Creating new referral form.

  • New grading criteria developed, tested, and delivered.
  • New Midterm assessment form developed, tested, and delivered.
  • Post assessment form enhancements implemented, tested, and delivered.
  • Referral form developed, tested, and delivered.

1 month- Linking Dirasa to ActivityInfo/NeuroDB

  • All the required development are completed, and linkage tested and delivered.

1 month- Extracting registration data from school profile. - Adding/linking Geographical Information to Dirasa schools.

  • Extraction implemented, tested, and delivered.
  • Geographical Information linked to Dirasa schools.

1 weekBMA Infrastructure - Upgrading Python version to 3.11.4 - Performing a Source Code cleaning and make sure existing libraries and dependencies are up to date. - Documenting systems requirements, plan development and technical needs.

  • Python version upgraded to 3.11.4
  • Source Code cleaned and dependencies are up to date.
  • Geographical Information linked to Dirasa schools.
  • Systems requirements, plan development and technical needs documented.

1 monthBMA - Coding to include Other sections indicators in the Beneficiary Monitoring and Assessment platform. - Development of Forms and Dashboards - Creating views to integrate with Power BI - Daily support/ updates/ improvements based on sections’ needs.

  • Indicators implemented, tested, and delivered.
  • Forms and Dashboards developed, tested, and delivered.
  • Views implemented, tested, and delivered.

1 monthTo qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or any other relevant field.
  • At least five years of experience in developing, installing, operating, and maintaining software systems.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
  • Software development experience using Python, PHP, .NET, and Javascript programming languages. Experience with the Django framework, PostgreSQL databases, and SQL.
  • Efficient in handling information and resources within an organization to promote knowledge retention and sharing information.
  • Innovative uses of technology for development, particularly in the areas of data access, mobiles, and open source.
  • Experience in project management and rolling out of large-scale projects, especially in hard-to-reach areas in developing countries is highly desirable.
  • Strong Experience with HTML, CSS, and templating.
  • Strong Experience with revision control systems such as GitHub
  • Strong knowledge of Business Intelligence tools and analysis databases (OLAP).
  • Efficient in handling information and resources within an organization to promote knowledge retention and sharing information.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
