BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
To provide effective specialized support and technical analyses to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive):
Within delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the OIM Officer and the overall guidance of the Head of Reporting & Data Analysis, the Programme Associate will perform the following tasks:
1. Support the OIM unit in assigned area to ensure that standard OIM & GIS procedures and templates are followed to drive the quality, consistency, and standardization of information management and performance reporting across WFP Lebanon.
2. Collate relevant information and data from media and local internal and external sources to facilitate and maximize the exchange of information and data flow between functional area networks in WFP, to provide operational awareness and understanding of events that may have humanitarian and/or operational impact.
3. Collate, Analyse, and communicate the ‘Essential Elements of Information’, pertaining to the operational environment and available human, financial and physical assets to facilitate access to timely and accurate information used at country, regional and corporate level.
4. Support the preparation and coordination of the Annual Country Report (ACR) for the Annual Reporting Exercise in collaboration with the country office programme, monitoring & evaluation, logistics and resource management functions to ensure consistency and overall quality of information.
5. Support the OIM Unit with requests for information and data, including from WFP’s corporate information management systems such as COMET, that come from other functional units such as Partnerships, Communications, the Regional Bureau, and other relevant stakeholders.
6. Work closely with Programme unit COMET focal points to monitor COMET reporting status.
7. Perform data quality checks on a regular basis under the instruction of the OIM Officer/Country Office COMET database administrator.
8. Ensure timely receipt of the distribution reports and that COMET system will provide the required data sets for various reporting.
9. Ensure data management for the Lebanon Country Office by developing and managing a knowledge management system for sharing information, learning, and reporting, providing data insights to facilitate performance monitoring and informed decision-making (One-Stop-Shop), in close coordination with other units.
10. Provide GIS support to CO and functional units, including Emergency Preparedness, VAM, M&E, Programme services and Retail unit.
11. Provide support for ad-hoc mapping and data requests, including support for new mapping products for the Research and Monitoring (RAM) unit and other relevant units.
12. Ensure consistency of WFP reporting with other UN agencies in humanitarian information (such as in ActivityInfo, the interagency database).
13. Support the capacity building of WFP staff and cooperating partners within specific technical areas.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
University degree in Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, Business Management, Social Sciences or other relevant field
Experience:
At least six (6) years of experience in a relevant field of work, with a background and interest in humanitarian and/or development work.
Technical Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of information management best practices, techniques, and processes
Ability to maintain regular, well organized, and accurate records.
Proficient computer knowledge and usage of MS software package, internet search and mapping.
Advanced knowledge in MS Excel.
Basic skills in ArcGIS/QGIS or any other related software for GIS.
Effective communication skills for diverse audiences and purposes.
Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic
