Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

In response to a request from G-20, to meet a global demand for a free, unbranded, member-based online platform on social protection, the socialprotection.org platform was launched in September 2015. It is hosted by UNDP/IPC-IG.

The platform is an unbranded knowledge-sharing (and capacity-strengthening) space which offers actionable content, and promotes dialogue, learning and cooperation among the global social protection community through innovative formats, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. The platform provides free access to a variety of resources, including searchable databases of social protection sources—which include text, audio, slides, infographics and videos —as well as blogs, news, events, and programme profiles. Members of socialprotection.org can join online communities, take online courses, engage in webinars, events and podcasts.

socialprotection.org is committed to generating and sharing knowledge for the promotion of innovative and effective social protection policies and programmes, with the ambition of contributing to inclusive growth and sustainable development.

socialprotection.org will launch the 9th session of the Ambassadors Programme in February 2022! The Programme’s objective is mainly focused on increasing the reach and visibility of the platform in different regions, drawing attention to the social protection thematic. Below are the specific objectives:

• To promote the socialprotection.org platform and its resources; • To promote engagement with the platform and its features; • To promote the dissemination of socialprotection.org's content through social media; • To increase the visibility of socialprotection.org within the Ambassador’s region and network;
• To ensure content representing the Ambassador’s regional and thematic interests is available on the platform.

In order to provide support and guidance to participants of the socialprotection.org Ambassadors Programme, while increasing interaction between them, we are selecting experienced volunteers to integrate the programme as group leaders.

Selected online volunteers will support a group of up to 9 ambassadors and perform the following specific tasks:

• Keep the Ambassadors motivated by promoting interactive exchanges through different channels;

• Organise monthly follow-up meetings with their specific groups and attend the meetings organized by socialprotection.org;

• Guide Ambassadors and solve potential doubts related to their tasks:

     o 1st MONTH: accomplishing and sending feedback on micro-courses produced by the platform
     o 2nd MONTH: ambassadors will be divided into three distinct groups. Each group will be focused on a specific task:
            A. Producing communication content (e.g. videos or conducting interviews)
            B. Producing a blog post on a specific social protection topic
            C. Mapping social protection-related materials from assigned regions and topics
         o 3rd MONTH: writing up (in groups) an outreach strategy for socialprotection.org in a region to be designated during your assignment.

The online volunteer will work remotely at a time and location of their convenience, subject to the deadlines set.

Those who successfully participate will have their profiles featured on socialprotection.org Ambassador’s page and receive a UNV certificate.

Excellent computer skills; Reliable internet and laptop access; Writing skills; Communication skills; Active social media profiles (WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and/or Twitter).

Will be considered assets: Knowledge of social protection policies and programmes; Experience in blog writing, copy-editing or research is an asset; Experience in communications and/or social media.
