Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

The position of Associate Regional Cooperation Officer is assigned to the Regional Cooperation and Integration Unit (CWRC) within the Central and West Asia Department (CWRD). You will be based at our Resident Mission Office in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

You will report to the Regional Head, CWRC and designated International Staff of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Secretariat in Almaty, Kazakhstan. You will work closely with Head of the CAREC Secretariat, and a team of CAREC consultants.

Your Role

As an Associate Regional Cooperation Officer, you will contribute to the implementation of the CAREC Strategy 2030, including providing support to the CAREC Secretariat, identification and implementation of ADB initiatives and technical assistances (TAs) for the CAREC Program; implementation of sector and thematic CAREC strategies; and policy support related to regional cooperation and integration (RCI) in CAREC countries. You will support CWRC International Staff in collaborating with CAREC/CWRD developing member countries (DMCs), key development partners and other stakeholders, as well as with relevant sectors and thematic groups within ADB.

Additional Information

This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew for an initial period of three (3) years following Section 3.1 (b) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 ("Recruitment and Appointment'). This appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment. At the end of the initial period, this appointment may be renewed for a period of up to three years, or not renewed. There is no limit on the number of renewals. This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.

This opening is a local staff position. It is open only to nationals and residents of Kazakhstan.

ADB will be rolling-out a new job grading structure on 1 January 2025, which may result in a change of the position grade and title with no change in the terms of reference. By proceeding with your application, you acknowledge and accept the possibility of such changes resulting from the new job grading structure.
