The Associate Project Officer will support the development, fundraising, coordination, and implementation of future pilots of the Youth Accelerator Programme as part of plans to scale the programme. The Associate Project Officer will carry out these tasks in close consultation with the Sport Section’s Programme Specialist, the Royal Commission of AlUla and other relevant delivery partners or UNESCO field offices. This Component centres around piloting the first edition of Fit for Life’s Youth Accelerator Programme. Through expert-led workshops, young leaders in the region will gain skills to design, deliver and evaluate community-based sport initiatives which improve well-bring, employability and social cohesion. They will receive guidance from international experts and gain professional experience via work placements with Fit for Life partners. Long Description ---------------- The duties of the Associate Project Officer, based at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, will include the following: - Coordinate and participate in the inception workshop and planning phase for the Youth Accelerator pilot projects, helping to develop detailed workplans for programme activities and logistics and liaising with implementing partners. - Support delivery partners in the recruitment and management of local consultants and contractors to assist with on-the-ground coordination and delivery of programme objectives. - Assist and coordinate the development of tailored training materials and content for youth masterclass workshops and events. - Help organize, coordinate, and facilitate youth capacity-building activities, supporting event logistics where needed. - Liaise with implementing partners and host organizations throughout project cycles to coordinate participant work placements and monitor progress. - Coordinate the development of events, social media campaigns and communications materials to showcase programme activities and impacts. - Contribute to the creation of relevant knowledge by developing frameworks, compiling drafts, conducting analyses, and producing documentation as required to support the programme's strategic objectives and enhance its knowledge base. - Support with fundraising and outreach, including related to the development of partnerships and concepts for additional pilot projects beyond AlUla based on thematic areas of sport’s social impact. - Undertake additional tasks as necessary, adapting to evolving project needs and on-the-ground implementation challenges to ensure the successful delivery of programme objectives. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Communication (C) Accountability (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education** - Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in the field of Social Sciences, International Relations or a related area (such as Education or Sport for Development.) **Work Experience** - A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in developing and implementing international projects, of which preferably one (1) year acquired at international level. - Knowledge and demonstrable relevant experience working in the fields of sport and youth empowerment, especially with youth skill-building and professional development initiatives. - Previous experience designing content for, organizing, and facilitating tailored trainings for youth and other audiences, based on local needs and priorities.
