Result of Service

Provide well researched and sound analysis of issues and developments affecting the CBO project development, administration and implementation, etc. Provides thorough, well reasoned written contributions. Effectively, and in a timely manner, liaises and interacts with colleagues and concerned parties internally and externally. Design and development of the CBO tools, testing, definition of requirements after the minimum viable product and support the rollout in the first quarter.

Duties and Responsibilities

Org. Setting and Reporting The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. We support programme implementation of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, conference and information services (www.unon. org). The position is located in the Human Resources Management Service (HRMS), Division of Administrative Services (DAS), at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON). This position will report to the Chief of Talent Acquisition, Ms. Jennifer Wambui Chege and ultimately, the Chief of HRMS Mr. Aitor Maguna. It is based in Nairobi and will integrate into an ongoing and high pace project. Under the overall guidance of the Chief, TAU, the Associate Project Officer will perform the following duties: - Work under the CBO framework to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects. - Monitor and analyze specific aspects of programme/project development and implementation - Review relevant documents, reports, identify problems and recommend corrective actions - Carry out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities. - Provide substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, participation under the CBO framework in evaluations or research activities and studies. - Assist in performing consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change. - Participate in survey initiatives - Contribute to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. - Provide administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings - Undertake outreach activities, participate in the development of training workshops, seminars and participate in and make presentations on assigned topics/activities. - Quality Assurance: Monitor and maintain the quality of recruitment services provided under the CBO framework, continuously seeking improvements. - Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree in business administration, management, economics or a related field is required. A first level degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration or related area is required.

Languages

Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
