You have:
- At least 2 years of experience in ICT management.
- Proven experience in network administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki devices and dashboard is an asset.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Contract
This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of ICT Analyst or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Associate ICT Officer will: 1. Support implementation of ICT management systems and strategies, focusing on the following results: • Ensure compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines and procedures for the SO technology environment. • Support the use of Atlas/Quantum (UNDP’s implementation of ERP) functionality for improved business results and improved client services. • Provide inputs to the SO administrative business processes mapping and implementation of the internal standard operating procedures (SOPs). • Provide inputs in preparation of results-oriented workplan's. 2. Ensure effective functioning of the SO hardware and software packages, focusing on the achievement of the following results: • Performance of specific technical functions, including changing of hardware electronic components (disks, memories, network wiring, power sources, etc.) and routine repairs. • Assist in the installation of commercial and in-house developed software and related upgrades. • Assist in upgrading patch and anti-virus programs on a timely basis. • Monitor file server traffic, usage and performance on a frequent and regular basis. • Support users in backing up and restoring their files, as well as in virus detection, removal and prevention. 3. Support networks administration, focusing on achievement of the following results: • Assist in trouble-shooting and monitoring of network problems. • Respond to user needs and questions regarding network access. • Assist in backup and restoration procedures for local drives. • Maintain backup logs. Provide assistance to organization of off-site storage of backups. 4. Provide administrative support, focusing on achievement of the following results: • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of software and hardware. • Maintain a library of ICT related reference materials. • Maintain the inventory and stock of supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the Procurement Unit. • Maintain the filing system ensuring safekeeping of confidential materials. • Extract data from various sources. • Research and retrieve data from internal and external sources; prepare statistical charts, tables and reports as required. • Provide ICT support during key events. 5. Ensure facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the SO and CO, focusing on achievement of the following results: • Participate and assist in the organization of training for the SO staff on ICT issues. • Provide sound contribution to knowledge networks and communities of practice. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Cisco Networking using Meraki devices and Cisco Meraki Dashboard is an asset, experience in Microsoft SharePoint is desirable, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization; • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) is an asset. • Hardware and software management and applications including Microsoft MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.). • Internet Network troubleshooting skills and installation. • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
Nigeria is a unique country and UNDP is a unique (humanitarian) operation. It provides for an interesting and enriching environment, but also requires a mature level of cultural awareness, as well as more stamina and commitment than elsewhere to make life comfortable and affordable. Therefore, flexibility and the ability and willingness to live and work in harsh and potentially hazardous conditions, involving physical hardship and little comfort, are essential.
As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
