This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The UNAMA Engineering and Facilities Management Section (EFMS) is responsible for delivering engineering and facilities management functions to UNAMA and Agency, Funds and Programme tenants throughout the mission area. The EFMS has five broad areas of activity – power generation, construction, facilities management, water and sanitation and projects. It is envisaged that the UN Volunteer will be placed in the facilities management area, which is responsible for managing the occupancy, space allocation and maintenance of all UNAMA buildings and green spaces throughout the mission. It is responsible for the provision of effective, efficient maintenance and refurbishment of staff accommodation both in Kabul and regional offices. FMU also implement efficient and effective office and accommodation bookings, as well as space allocation management.

Under the direct supervision of Chief, Facilities Management Unit (FMU), the National UN Volunteer Specialist will undertake the following tasks:

Supporting the Chief FMU in the day-to-day operational tasks of all aspects of the Unit to assure maintenance is delivered to the approved quality standards; Booking accommodation for Transit/New Arrivals for Kabul and the Regions; Preparing Memos, supply requests and engineering work orders as required; Coordinating and following up with UNAMA and Contractor staff to ensure the timely completion of work order requests; Monitoring daily and monthly attendance reports submitted by Contractor staff; Receiving and processing work order requests from tenant UN Agencies Funds and Programmes and following up to ensure completion of the required tasks; Facilitate the processing of Common Service monthly Invoices to UN Agencies Funds and Programmes and following up to ensure payments are made on time; Verify the Monthly Master List in FSS (Field Support Suite – UNAMA management software); Check and monitor the composting of bio-degradable waste within the UNOCA and Palace UN Terminal Compounds; Support the training of Contractor staff in OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) and Environmental considerations; Support with any other tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor..

The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment.

Travel to duty station (if applicable) and a Settling-In-Grant will be provided in the event the duty station is not within commuting distance from the place of recruitment. The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included ) and final repatriation (if applicable).

Furthermore, in non-family duty stations that belong to hardship categories D or E, as classified by the ICSC, a Well-Being Differential (WBD) on a monthly basis will be provided.
