IRC’s Mass Markets department is an international team responsible for generating brand awareness and financial support for the IRC through mass marketing. Focusing primarily on individuals giving contributions of under $20K, the team strives to acquire and develop a large, diverse base of supporters—mainly through digital channels—from which donors can be upgraded to major and planned gift donors.

Job Overview:

The Associate Director, Digital Optimization & CRO will own online optimization programs with a particular focus on user experience (UX) strategy and conversion rate optimization (CRO) both for fundraising and engagement. This role will collaborate with key ER leadership and partners across Digital Engagement, Marketing Technology (MarTech) and ER Analytics to evolve IRC’s digital programs towards optimized conversion performance and income generation.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Own strategy, planning and implementation of International Digital optimization efforts across online donation pages and high-traffic digital properties on RescueX and other key IRC-owned websites, including but not limited to form optimizations for fundraising, lead generation, and advocacy actions.

2. Lead CRO Working Group to define test strategies, goals, and key performance indicators, tracking metrics, sample size, and campaign duration in collaboration with cross-functional partners including MM digital leads, UX/UI designers, digital analysts, and development teams.

3. Build experimentation matrix and optimize the donor/supporter paths to conversion; design and implement A/B tests to improve online conversion rates to drive donor acquisition and revenue.

4. Collaborate with ER Analytics and Mass Market digital leads to collect and analyze data from multiple sources to develop insights into user behavior, evaluate the efficiency of optimization efforts, and steer the direction of work; guide leadership decisions on testing priorities and opportunities for continued learning based on findings.

5. Provide thought-leadership across External Relations in identifying and initiating strategies for digital optimization (e.g., new testing methodologies, platforms, tooling, and partnership opportunities) to ensure IRC fundraising programs remain best-in-class.

6. Own global digital optimization calendar and lead on testing strategies across Mass Markets. Produce concept briefs, digital scope and detailed requirements for testing plans across digital assets, project schedules, and resource plans; run quality assurance testing and user assurance testing.

7. Build and maintain global CRO testing learning repository to serve as internal learning hub and database of experiment results and insights.

8. Stay ahead of advancements and changes in the field of web accessibility and develop an understanding of how new techniques impact web accessibility.

9. Provide direct management and oversight for external vendors and consultants supporting digital optimization and CRO-focused strategy and testing support CRO initiatives; serve as Mass Markets focal points on related contracts and project engagements.

10. Lead efforts to improve UX as a critical piece of the broader digital optimization program, to include usability audit and user testing, as well as audience research to include analyses of experiences across digital web properties to deepen our collective understanding of digital conversion paths.

11. Partner closely with the Digital Engagement teams to support organic SEO initiatives to reach and attract core audiences and improve conversion performance for unpaid traffic.

12. Demonstrate a dedication to the principles and policies of the “IRC Way” – IRC Global Standards for Professional Conduct including integrity, service, accountability, and equality.

13. Serve as core project team member on special projects as assigned to include GA4 Migration and multi-year Digital Expansion, Web Optimization and CRO initiative.

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: Senior Director of Digital Acquisition, Mass Markets

Position directly leads: Team of two to include CRO/UX Project Lead and SEO Technical Specialist.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent 8 years of proven experience

Work Experience:

• Minimum 6 years working with Google Analytics or similar Marketing Analytics tool, optimizing landing page and web funnels and driving revenue performance of web/app campaigns and platforms using digital technologies.

• Record of growing conversion rates and driving online revenue.

• Hands-on analytics experience, including data analysis and measuring the statistical significance of tests.

• Practical testing platform experience (e.g., Google Optimize, VWO, Optimizely)

• Project management tooling experience (e.g., Monday.com, Asana, JIRA)

• Experience writing/editing HTML and CSS.

• Experience evaluating visual design.

• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

• Developed organization and problem-solving abilities.

Skill and Competencies:

• Proficiency in web analytics and tracking web performance metrics.

• Experience measuring digital marketing performance in an omnichannel environment.

• Experience in nonprofit fundraising preferred; agency experience preferred.

• Experience in key areas of web development: user experience design, usability, search engine optimization; high degree of familiarity with technology.

• Experience coordinating Web QA and cross-browser testing.

• Experience with Salesforce or other CRM integration.

• Experience with web content management systems like Drupal.

• Familiar with web accessibility concepts and WCAG 2.0 guidelines.

Working Environment:

Compensation:

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
