Role Summary

We are hiring an exceptional Associate with experience supporting the delivery of EdTech initiatives, within government or in a government advisory role. We are looking for an enthusiastic and strong candidate who will support the implementation of TBI EdTech offer (including the use of technology in the classroom, online teaching, use of AI technologies to support students and teachers, education-focused apps etc).

Focused on the development of TBI’s growing program in Western Balkans, the postholder will join a fast-growing team supporting the Government, focusing on Ministry of Education priority projects and tech-enabled educational initiatives within the public sector. We are looking for an EdTech Associate that has relevant experience in implementing EdTech initiatives and advising governments on the use of digital technologies in education and the latest education tech innovations (hybrid learning through online courses, AI teaching assistants, SMART boards, use of tablets and laptops, education-focused apps).

The Associate will leverage the wide range of expertise and resources across TBI, in particular those in our Global Client Solutions (GCS), Global Innovation Unit (GIU) and Partnerships & Initiatives (PI) team, to bring the best of TBI to our government clients and tailor the value proposition to the specific needs and opportunities in the regional and country context.

The EdTech Associate will advise the Ministry of Education on strategy, policy and delivery of EdTech initiatives in line with its education transformation agenda, reporting to TBI Senior Manager Digital Transformation, and working closely with the rest of TBI in-country team. The post-holder is expected to build strong relationships with key public and private stakeholders, as well as development partners, undertake EdTech landscape and feasibility assessments, understand the scope of EdTech to improve the quality of educational outcomes in the country, and support identification of EdTech solutions in the country context.

This is an entry position requiring a candidate with relevant expertise.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Senior Manager Digital Transformation and a network of tech and digital transformation experts across the Institute, the Associate is expected to support the delivery of an impact-driven education transformation offer for the country, based on tech-enabled solutions and harnessing digital technologies in the educational sector.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with TBI in-country team and TBI central teams to leverage technology in the delivery of quality and impactful education initiatives built around the country’s national priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for TBI to support the Government in its digital and tech transformation within the education sector
  • Oversee delivery of individual workstreams, working closely with government counterparts and TBI team.
  • Build strong relationships with public sector stakeholders, maintaining an in-depth understanding of current trends across the technology and education ecosystem, identifying opportunities for collaboration.
  • Develop relationships with actors across the broader tech ecosystem, including private sector and development partners, EdTech innovators and digital industry leaders to deliver quality advice to the Government.
  • Engage with relevant external stakeholders such as other not-for-profit organisations, donors, suppliers, and agencies.

Person Specification

  • Master’s degree in education, public policy, economics, computer science or a related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in digital education and/or digital transformation programmes, and 3 years in consulting
  • Professional technical knowledge, experience and demonstrated ability in digital education, strategy formulation, and capacity building
  • Experience in the education sector advising political leaders on complex challenges, working in government, or other professional advisory firms
  • Experience in the development and operations of digital and technology solutions for the education sector
  • Strong technology skills, adept at using such programs as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, R-Language, Stata; ability to learn new presentation and research applications
  • Practical grasp of emerging innovations and cutting-edge technologies in the education space and supporting leaders to harness them at scale
  • Exceptional attention to detail for written deliverables and the proven ability to deliver quality written outputs under tight deadlines
  • Skilled communicator and influencer, from executive office level through to technical level, is adept at speaking to senior leadership at clients and internally
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide range of government and non-government actors, including the private sector and development partners
  • Experience working in Western Balkan countries or Eastern Europe on digital and technology transformation projects in the education sector would be advantageous but not essential
  • Fluent in English. Balkan language skills would be an asset.
