Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the International Trade Centre (ITC)’s Office of the Executive Director, Communications and Events Section. The incumbent reports to the Communications Officer working on programme development and communications for the World Export Development Forum and works under close supervision of the Head of Publications and Events.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Associate Public Information Officer is responsible for the following duties, particularly to implement the World Export Development Forum Mongolia 2023: - Tracks, researches and analyzes information on assigned conference topics/issues; gathers information from diverse sources to shape the programme. - Supports the drafting/compiling of information communications products for conference target audiences, to include reports, brochures, speaker briefs, newsletters, websites, etc. - Helps organize the clearance, production and distribution of conference material. - In consultation with others identifies participant mobilization and speaker opportunities, taking into account the situation/topic and target audience. - Supports key contacts/constituencies and opportunities for strategic partnerships to facilitate communication efforts and maintains working relationships with the same. - Participates in the organization of the conference; contributes to briefing materials for senior officials prior to their participation in such event. - Helps ensure that event requirements in terms of services and facilities such as for registration, IT support, interpretation, transport, etc. are met, as requested by ITC and the host country. - Undertakes missions to support the planning of the conference away from established Headquarters. - Responds to conference logistics inquiries internally and externally; prepares related correspondence. - Performs other duties as assigned.

Client Orientation: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be “clients” and seeks to see things from clients’ point of view; establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect; identifies clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions; monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems; keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects; meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.

Education A first-level university degree in international relations, public administration, or related field such as international development is required.

Work Experience Applicants to positions at this level who have an advanced university degree in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience. For applicants who have a first level university degree, two additional years of qualifying work experience is required.

Experience in public information, international relations, public administration, international development or related area is desirable.

Experience in international flagship event communication and management is desirable.

Experience in trade development is desirable

Experience in working with one or several specific stakeholder groups (businesses, UN organizations, Business Support Organizations, etc.) is desirable

Languages For the position advertised, fluency in both English is required. Knowledge of French (both oral and written) is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by competency-based interview.
