The project “Strengthening pre-service Teacher Education in Myanmar (STEM)” addresses four fundamentally important aspects of pre-service teacher education. These include: - formulating a policy framework of pre-service teacher education and identifying standards for quality assurance, - improving a system of pre-service teacher training institutions - Education Colleges (ECs) by designing the new four-year degree programme of pre-service teacher education and creating good networks to accumulate and share knowledge and experiences of all ECs, - developing institutional/management and human resource capacities of ECs, and - mainstreaming inclusion and equity issues in teacher education. Long Description The project is improving teacher education in the area of governance, policy development around teacher education, review of learning resources and development of curriculum, and building capacity of staff in management and teaching. An Assistant Project Officer is sought to provide support to overseeing the programme management and coordination of the STEM project, particularly on its ICT in teacher education component. The Assistant Project Officer may also be called upon to provide support for coordinating with the MoE for the implementation of other UNESCO education projects, as needed. **Major Duties and Responsibilities** Major Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education and under the direct supervision of Head of the Myanmar Project Office, and working in close collaboration with the lead Project Officer and experts in the UNESCO STEM project team, the Assistant Project Officer will assist the Lead Project Officer in programme management and coordination for ICT in Teacher Education of the STEM project. In particular, the Assistant Project Officer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: - Support for coordinating the work relating to ICT in teacher education and facilitating communication with the MoE, EC staff and relevance stakeholders on the project activities relating to ICT in teacher education; - Contribute to the design, development and review of CPD ICT modules for Education College Teaching and non-teaching staff; - Provide support for building capacity of EC staff, including ICT tutors, teacher educators and administrative staff, on the use of ICT in education in terms of needs identification, provision of context- specific advice on the design and development of ICT training modules and technical expertise on basic ICT skills and ICT-pedagogy integration; Long Description - Provide technical coordination in the development and management of the e-learning function in the existing e-library and its learning content management system, which allow sharing of training materials, teaching and learning resources and curriculum modules among ECs; - Coordinate the reviews of the draft and final deliverables and materials related to ICT in teacher education by the UNESCO team, MOE and other stakeholders; - Assist the lead Project Officer on the activities relating to the development of comprehensive teacher policies and the implementation of Teacher Competency Standards Framework with the MoE and other stakeholders; - Support the team in contracting as well as providing coordination and logistical arrangements for workshops, training sessions of the concerned project with the administrative staff; - Review and check the deliverables submitted by external contractors and draft documents submitted by the UNESCO team for the lead Project Officer to final check; - Keep an up-to-date, daily record of the work online and making it available for the UNESCO team to oversee the progress; - Organize all documents, including but not limited to the deliverables by the external contractors, in a systematic way and making them available for the UNESCO team’s use; - Contribute to programme management and monitoring support, including activity planning and reporting, to ensure successful delivery of results; and - Carry out any other tasks as assigned by the Head of Project Office to support UNESCO’s education programming activities in Myanmar **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** Education - A Master’s degree in education, information technology, or computer science or a related field. Work Experience - Minimum two (2) years relevant professional experience, preferably in the field of education. Languages - Excellent English language skills (read, spoken and written); Skills and competencies - Proficiency in Microsoft Office package as well as in typing English and Myanmar (Unicode and Zawgyi) and web content management; - Ability to work independently and efficiently on delegated tasks, under pressure and in a multi-cultural environment; - Ability to meet deadlines; - Innovative, flexible and results-oriented; and - Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal and coordination skills. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** Education - A Master’s degree in ICT in education or related areas Work Experience - Experience within the UN System or international organizations - Experience in conducting research will be an advantage - Experience in providing ICT training or working with teachers on ICT Skills and competencies - Technically sound in ICT in education - High sense of responsibility and willingness to take initiatives - Ability to work within a team as well as cross-team - Ability to multi-task and set priorities **ASSESSMENT** An assessment exercise may be used in the evaluation of candidates.
