Long Description **MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Under the authority of the Director of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, the overall supervision of the Head of Myanmar Project Office and technical supervision of Chief of the Bangkok Culture Unit, the incumbent shall perform the functions as follows: 1. Undertake in-country coordination for the effective planning, implementation and monitoring of culture programme activities implemented in Myanmar, under the scope of UNESCO Conventions to: - Liaise with Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and other national, local and international project partners to ensure timely execution of project activities; - Provide support in carrying out administrative procedures related to implementation of programmes and projects, including procurement, organizing and follow up of meetings/conferences/ workshops, site visits, expert missions and field activities; Major Duties and Responsibilities - Manage contracts with national and local counterparts including drafting of ToRs, monitoring and undertaking review and analysis of deliverables; - Provide informal interpretation and translation from Myanmar into English and vice versa in meetings and of documents, reports, etc.; - Provide support to, and take part in, missions undertaken by UNESCO officers and consultants; and - Provide inputs to project technical reports, progress and final reports for the donors, and bi-annual SISTER reports. Long Description 1. Provide support to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture in organizing the International Coordinating Committee for Bagan and in the follow-up of its recommendations; 2. Provide inputs to communication/outreach materials for website, press releases, speeches and presentations related to the culture programme. 3. Work with the national and regional level with various stakeholders, including national governmental agencies, universities, as well as other national and international organizations, to build common understanding and coordination on project activities.4. Contribute to the formulation and preparation of concept notes, project proposals and work plans for resource mobilization, in alignment with UNESCO Culture Sector’s priorities. 5. Work Experience - At least 2 years of work experience in project management in the field of heritage conservation or in the promotion of arts and culture for social and economic development. Languages - Excellent written and spoken English and Myanmar language skills. Skills and competencies - Excellent communication, organizational, analytical thinking and coordination skills; - Capacity for accuracy and attention to detail in preparation of correspondence and programme documents; - Ability to take initiatives and to provide quality and timely support and services; - Good interpersonal skills, discretion, good sense of judgement and capacity to deal efficiently and tactfully with people of different cultural backgrounds; - Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to adjust work schedules and priorities. - Ability to work independently on delegated tasks; - Excellent IT skills with proficiency in the use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) and for web management and news circulation;**Assessment:** Assessment exercises such as written tests or content tests may be used in the evaluation of candidates. **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
