Overview

Assist with translating documents for trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants.

You have:

  • Candidates should be either native or fluent in English and Portuguese.
  • Ability to translate documents from and to English and Portuguese.
  • Familiarity with technical terms related to trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants will be considered an advantage.
  • A one-paragraph translation will be requested as part of the selection process.

The Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section of UNODC is looking for support and assistance with translation of documents from and to English to Portuguese and vice-versa. The type of documents varries and can include questionnaries, surveys, case-law, legislation, flyers, short paragraphs. The lenght of the documents varries between 5-10 pages. These documents contribute to the development of analytical tools for criminal justice practitioners on trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants and promote exchange of practice and information.

    The volunteer will contribute with the translation to the development of analytical tools for criminal justice practitioners on trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants and promote exchange of practice and information. More specifically, the volunteer by translating the documents will contribute to promoting a multilingual approach and reaching out to a large number of practitioners.

  • Volunteers: 5 needed

  • 1-5 hours per week / 2 weeks

    Candidates should be either native or fluent in English and Portuguese and be able to translate from and to these languages. Familiarity with technical terms related to trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants, as well as legal terminology, will be considered an advantage. A one-paragraph translation will be requested as part of the selection process.
