What we are looking for

NRC is looking for an Area Programme Manager to join the Myanmar mission. The role holder will be responsible for NRC’s programmatic and advocacy response, as well as project implementation North-East Myanmar. This position will make a significant contribution to NRC Myanmar’s role as a pilot country for NRC’s global initiative for Integrated Programming. Additionally, this role will ensure NRC Myanmar’s objective of prioritising hard-to-reach populations and contributes towards pathways to adapt programming to North-East Myanmar’s volatile context after the armed conflict escalated in October 2023.

This position is only open to candidates who have the legal eligibility work in Myanmar. NRC is unable to provide work permits or visa sponsorships for this position.

What you will do

  • Project cycle management (60%): proposal development, budget management, reporting, integrated programming, monitoring and evaluation, etc.
  • Partnerships (20%): engagement and management (partner assessment, regular partner meetings, overseeing partner reporting, etc.).
  • Coordination (10%): participation of programmes teams in coordination fora (clusters, working groups, local networks, etc.).
  • Area strategic plans (10%): programme components, and preparation of the Area Office strategic plans Strategy, and Annexes.

What you will bring

  • Management experience in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Shelter, Education, Legal Assistance, and/or Protection work experience.
  • Integrated programming proficiency.
  • Complex, and volatile context exposure.
  • Myanmar context exposure and knowledge.
  • English fluency, both written and verbal.

  • NRC provides needs-based protection to conflict, and displacement affected populations in North-East Myanmar through an integrated programming with programmatic interventions which embrace different areas, comprising of Education; Information, Counselling, and Legal Assistance; Shelter and Settlements; Livelihoods; and Protection. NRC seeks to address the varied and complex needs faced by internally displaced persons, returnees, and affected host populations through complementary programming involving direct implementation, strategic partnerships and consortia, advocacy, and referrals.
