You have:

  • Professional translation experience or being a bilingual student (Arabic-English) with experience in written translations.
  • Availability to dedicate 20+ hours per week for a duration of 2 weeks to complete the translation.

The volunteerism strategy needs to be translated into English (55 pages). The online volunteer will be leading the translation of the document. He/she will be given a period of 2 weeks to translate the document. During this period the volunteer may get support at any time from the UNFPA focal points on volunteerism in the Arab States Region as well as the at UNFPA HQ.

    It is the first UNFPA strategy on volunteerism. Please note UNFPA engages UNVs and community based volunteers to implement its programme and ensure ownership and sustainability. The strategy may be replicated/used in other regions and also adapted to global purposes. The online volunteer will contribute to mainstreaming volunteerism in UNFPA programming ensuring knowledge sharing across regions as well as at corporate level. Ultimately mainstreaming volunteerism in UNFPA programming will accelerate the achievement of the SDGs ensuring sustainability and ownership of UNFPA programmes. Furthermore on the volunteer may also be invited to participate to the presentation of the strategy at the Inter-Divisional Working group on volunteerism.

    UN language/terminology are included and needs to be properly translated. it will be ideal to have candidates with professional translation, editing experience or being a bilingual student (Arabic-English) with experience on written translations.
