Purpose of the Position

The incumbent be part of the Talent Accelerator program for the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Valencia Office. The role will contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of applications that leverage AI, low-code/no-code citizen development platforms, and gamification techniques. A key focus will be supporting the Build It Yourself (BIY) program, exploring curated training paths for citizen developers, and experimenting with gamified approaches to increase adoption and engagement.

Organizational Setting and Reporting

The incumbent(s) are expected to work 5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day under the supervision of a senior member of the Resilience Service Unit (DSSR) and in close collaboration with ADB, and will be provided guidance and support to perform the responsibilities mentioned below.

Duties and deliverables:

  • Assist in app development using low-code/no-code platforms and traditional programming under guidance

  • Explore and prototype AI-enabled features for applications

  • Support the Build It Yourself (BIY) program by helping curate training paths and learning modules

  • Contribute to the design of gamification elements to improve engagement and adoption

  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and documentation for application development initiatives

  • Participate in testing, debugging, and optimization of applications

  • Provide technical support during app deployment and training sessions

  • Assist in any other deliverables as required by their user unit supervisor and team as required from time to time

Note: Work schedule is from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Valencia, Spain time, which is generally equivalent to 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM Manila time during Spain daylight saving time, and 3:00 PM to 12:00 midnight Manila time when Spain is on standard time, unless otherwise agreed with the supervisor or user unit

Recruitment Profile

Experience:

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience to participate in the UNICC’s internship program, but applicants should have the following functional and technical skills:

  • Basic knowledge of programming fundamentals (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#)

  • Familiarity with low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Power Apps, AppSheet)

  • Understanding of AI concepts and integration in applications

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

  • Ability to prepare documentation and training materials under guidance

  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment

  • Internship or project-based experience in app development, AI, or gamification may be considered

Required education:

  • Be currently enrolled in a university programme (final year of a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or equivalent) specializing in areas that are relevant to UNICC’s line of business such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Architecture, or related fields.

  • Applicants that have graduated in the last 6 months in one of the areas of expertise described above will also be considered

Required language skills:

Fluency in English is required (verbal and written)
