Result of Service

Following the implementation of the Anti-Racism Learning Framework, the consultant will develop learning content and deliver learning at basic, progressive, and advanced levels of learning, including (i) basic awareness training for all personnel, (ii) toolkits and facilitation guides on raising awareness of linguistic and other types of prejudice, (iii) training for managers and leaders, (iv) expert contribution to the revision and update of existing courses, when applicable, (v) advanced level of learning for anti-racism advocates, racial justice points and other affinity groups, (vi) revision and update of the Global Orientation Programme for all personnel. The consultant will advise on Anti-Racism and learning related matters and assist with stakeholders’ coordination and engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities

This consultancy is located in the Strategic Talent Management Service (STMS) in the Global Strategy and Policy Division (GSPD) of the Office of Human Resources (OHR), Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). The consultant will report to one of the Co-Chiefs of the Organizational Development Section (ODS). The Secretary-General is committed to zero tolerance and organizational action to address racism and racial discrimination and the equal treatment and full inclusion of all United Nations personnel in the work of the Organization. He has therefore launched a Strategic Action Plan on Addressing Racism and Promoting Dignity for All in the United Nations Secretariat (hereafter the "Strategic Action Plan") to address and challenge racism in the workplace. ODS is responsible for designing approaches to build a working environment that embraces the broadest possible spectrum of diversity and provides an enabling and gender-sensitive workplace. It also creates a culture of engagement, leadership, accountability and result-orientation based on the organizational values and competencies. With this organization-wide mandate, ODS plays a crucial role in implementing a wide breadth of Strategic Action Plan recommendations proposed to shift the culture, policies, accountability mechanism, and practices of the UN Secretariat to address racism and racial discrimination and augment racial diversity and inclusion. Responsibilities: Within limits of delegated authority, the Anti-Racism Learning Consultant will be responsible for the following duties: • In collaboration with the Team Lead and the Instructional Designer, implement the Anti-Racism Learning Framework for all UN Secretariat personnel, leadership, managers, staff counsellors & support personnel, newly hired personnel, and other personnel groups. • Develop learning content and evaluation tools to measure the impact of learning, including changes in learners' behaviours over time. • Coordinate & liaise with relevant learning and development counterparts to co-produce and deliver anti-racism learning & training curricula and tools pertinent to UN Secretariat personnel.

Qualifications/special skills

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in social sciences, education, or related field is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. - A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in anti-racism strategic development, learning and curriculum development, organizational culture shift praxis, diversity, equity, & inclusion coordination, or related areas is required. - Experience in building capacity / professional development in the areas of equity and anti-racism work for a range of personnel within a workplace is required. - Experience in leading discussions on racism and anti-racism, as well as co-creating and leading anti-racist initiatives within an organization, is desirable. - Experience in facilitating organizational change related to anti-racism work is desirable. - Experience coordinating and liaising with various departments, working independently, and collaborating as a team is required.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy, fluency in English is required.
