The IRC’s Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A) is a critical partner in ensuring the success and longevity of the organization’s humanitarian programs, which provide clean water, shelter, health care, education and economic development support to refugees and displaced people. Responsible for owning the annual budget processes for a subset of program department, analyzing and reporting results internally and to the Board, and providing business partnership to all departments and budget owners, FP&A offers sophisticated financial insights that allow the organization to operate and expand its programs responsibly.

IRC is currently searching for a new Analyst to train, mentor, and develop internally! Reporting into the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis - Programs, the Analyst will be responsible for delivering relevant financial information and insights to the organization. The position will provide business partnering to a sub-set of budget owners and leaders within IRC’s Programs departments, which include Crisis Response, Recovery and Development (CRRD), and Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI).

Major Responsibilities:

• Organize data and understand business requirements to build and maintain templates and models to enable both the budget and forecast processes;

• Partner with the FP&A team in developing annual budget submissions and in refining the process for the submission of the original and re-forecasted budget for Board approval;

• Coordinate the operating budget for a portfolio of departments including forecasting and tracking results;

• Generate and analyze the monthly actual reports for assigned departments and work with the departments to identify issues and opportunities versus budget;

• Identify and implement opportunities to use financial data and systems to improve modeling, reporting and analysis capabilities;

• Support the continued development and implementation of software and systems (e.g. Power BI, Microsoft D365) that enable FP&A delivery;

• Train new financial and program staff on IRC’s budget policies, processes and financial systems.

• Provide ad hoc analytical support on critical initiatives and new projects.

Key Working Relationships:

• Based at IRC Headquarters in New York, the Analyst, FP&A will report to the Director, FP&A – Programs and will work closely with members of the broader FP&A team as well as RAI and CRRD leadership teams.

Job Requirements:

Work Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Data Analytics, or equivalent

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

• Minimum 2-4 years budgeting/finance experience; knowledge in sophisticated financial analysis and expertise working on budgets preferred; ability to create insight from data and analyses;

• Computer and other technical skills: Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and all MS Office applications; basic knowledge of SQL preferred; experience with cloud-based planning tools, PowerBI and ERP systems (D365) is desirable.

• Language: Proficiency in a second language (French, Spanish, or Arabic) would be a distinct advantage

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills: the ability to effectively collaborate closely with colleagues in a diverse multi-cultural environment;

• Solid organizational and time management skills

• Strong analytical problem-solving skills

• Familiarity with humanitarian aid, international development, refugee resettlement or other similar industries preferred but not required

• Ability to work both independently

Working Environment:

• Standard office working environment

• This role may require working remotely full or part time

• Some travel as needed (5%)

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
