Job Description

The AmeriCorps VISTA Member - Resource Development will develop a sustainable volunteer recruitment and management system to support the anti-trafficking and unaccompanied minor programs, providing necessary orientations and administrative support. Interact with the community at large to create engagement opportunities for public awareness and fundraising activities. This is an AmeriCorps VISTA position, reporting to IRC's Resource Development Manager in Florida.

Major Responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment and Management:

- Identify and establish contact with potential partners where volunteers can be recruited (i.e. universities and student groups, affinity groups, faith-based groups, volunteer based community groups, neighborhood associations, other non-profits, etc.) - Develop and administer presentations, onboarding program, and training modules for incoming volunteers. - Coordinate with program leads to determine needs and create volunteer assignments on a weekly basis. - Develop volunteer descriptions. - Recruit and assign volunteers to tasks. - Provide ongoing management support to volunteers, troubleshoot any needs or concerns, and host monthly volunteer meetings.

Donor Recruitment and Engagement

- Identify and make contact with potential donors interested in supporting the anti-trafficking and unaccompanied minor program. - Develop a pipeline of potential constituents, including specific audiences. - Establish relationships with philanthropic groups. - Develop engagement opportunities for donors. - Host bi-monthly events for donors. - Develop affinity groups for young professionals and other groups. - Manage mid-donor portfolio - Engage donors in reoccurring communication. - Develop strategies to maintain high engagement with donors. - Troubleshoot any donor needs or concerns.

Communications

- Develop social media strategy to bring public awareness to human trafficking and unaccompanied minors in South Florida. - Develop and schedule appropriate content. - Maintain social media calendar. - Coordinate with the Development Manager to verify approve content. - Develop systems to gather stories and media from program leads. - Gather story notes, photos, and other media to develop monthly stories for newsletter. - Develop communication strategy to position the anti-trafficking and unaccompanied minor program in local news outlets. - Identify and establish contact with local journalists. - Present stories to local news outlets.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma.

Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience in non-profit, social service, or volunteering.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

- Program management or supervisory functions experience strongly preferred. - Proven, superior organizational skills in a complex, multi-tasking environment. - Outcome driven work style, establishing clear expectations and ongoing measurement of performance toward achieving targeted outcomes. - Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, to work independently as well as in a team. - Excellent Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn new computer applications rapidly; experience with CRM/donor management databases and email content management platforms preferred. - Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with current and prospective institutional donors and volunteers, partner agencies, multi-cultural clients, and colleagues on all levels. - Experience working with refugees and immigrants, international work and/or non-profit experience is highly desirable. - Commitment to the mission of the IRC.

Working environment: This position is based in Miami, FL, which is a standard office work environment.
