Job description

Since 2007, the Project Development Programme (PEP) has been supporting the energy transition in the PEP partner countries through concrete project development and project initiations in the field of renewable energies, energy efficiency and since November 2021 with H2-PEP also in the field of green hydrogen. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) plans to continue its activities within the framework of the Energy Export Initiative in selected developing and emerging countries in a fifth phase until 12/2025 and has commissioned GIZ accordingly.

Your tasks

  • Strategy development, planning and implementation of project development measures such as scouting of project opportunities focusing on transition from grey to green Hydrogen/Ammonia consumption in industry for specific target countries
  • Coordination and communication with GIZ's internal and external implementation partners
  • Technical management and orientation of local staff in the specific target country looking for Synergies between processes regarding project development for different renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies
  • Mobilization of German companies for participation and cooperation with the PEP and the German Solutions Initiative
  • Preparation of studies and trainings; orientation of consultants during execution and approval
  • Contribution to the conceptional review, monitoring and knowledge management of the project

Your profile

  • University degree in engineering, political science, economics, or another relevant field
  • Several years of experience, preferably gained in developing countries, in the project development of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, especially in the field of hydrogen and PtX
  • Experience in working with the private sector and its approaches to energy management
  • Adeptness in the processing and written presentation of specialist content, ability to familiarize oneself very quickly with new facts
  • Very good self-organization and flexibility
  • Loyalty and reliability as well as high motivation and ability to work in a team
  • Business fluent in English and German; other language skills, especially Spanish or French are an advantage

Notes

This position is suited to a full or a part-time position.

The willingness for frequent (international) business trips is required.
