The Position:

The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Project Coordinator is responsible for managing the implementation of adolescent pregnancy prevention programs executed with regular and mobilized resources. Reports directly to the National Representative of the UNFPA office in Venezuela.

The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Project Coordinator maintains collaborative relationships with all programme and project staff at the CO, and operations staff as well. Internal contacts include the Head of Office and the CO's programme/technical team. External contacts include other UN agencies in country and counterparts in Country programme activities.

Job Purpose:

The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Project Coordinator will participate in the field evaluation, planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the Pregnancy Prevention Project to support the prevention and reduction of pregnancy in adolescence and also of gender violence, STIs and HIV.

The Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Project Coordinator assists with program/ project implementation by using and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with established procedures, as well as by monitoring results achieved during implementation.

You would be responsible for:

  • Participate in design, planning and management of Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention programme, specifically in the identification, formulation, and implementation of Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention in development contex, with special attention to local implementation.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to institutions in charge of adolescent pregnancy prevention programs for the implementation of the PRETA Plan at central and local level, other UN agencies and local counterparts on issues related to this topic.
  • Coordinate and supervise the local adolescent pregnancy prevention programs, offering guidance, technical support, and frequent communication as necessary.
  • Coordinate the improvements CSE components inside and outside the school and Differentiated Consultations for adolescents, ensuring the proper management of the resources mobilized for its full implementation.
  • Coordinate the improvement in the capabilities of teachers, multipliers, peer promoters and health providers on CSE, SRH and supplies use and control.
  • Monitoring project and program activities, establishing and implementing mechanisms to systematically assess the achievement of results, conducting field visits, participating in review meetings and missions, and preparing regular inputs to status and progress reports. Analyzes factors affecting the achievement of results, recommends corrective actions, and follows up on recommendations.
  • Contribute to advocacy with different actors to local and national level that enhance the implementation and achievement of project products.
  • Contribute to creation and sharing of knowledge by synthesizing and documenting findings and lessons learned, success stories and best practices and designing relevant materials for dissemination.
  • Develop additional actions related to its functions that required by UNFPA CO.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

University Degree related to social science field, with high level training and knowledge in multilateral project management, monitoring and evaluation, results-based management, comprehensive sexuality education.

Knowledge and Experience:

Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the areas of management of multilateral projects, planning, monitoring, and evaluation according to results-based management, comprehensive sexuality education. Excellent writing and oral communication skills, and computer skills are necessary

Languages:

Fluency in Spanish and English is required; knowledge of another of the UN language will be considered an asset.
