This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The incumbent for this position will be recruited for the project “Support to the transitional justice process in Tunisia”. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Head of Office.

The administrative assistant will be responsible for the following duties: * Provides administrative assistance for the implementation of the activities of substantive staff in relation to the transitional justice programme * Assists in reviewing the project budget, costs, expenditure in consultation and with guidance as required of the Office’s senior administrative assistant responsible for the Office’s overall budget * Draft routine correspondence as required * Initiates, processes, monitors, reviews and follow-up on all administrative and budgetary actions related to the project * Responds or drafts responses to routine correspondence and other communications; produces programme management documents and reports as required. * Provides secretarial, administrative and logistics support to meetings, conferences, etc. for the project * Performs general administrative tasks: travel arrangements, arrangements for meetings and other events, reservations, for the project’s activities * Manages and maintains files (both paper and electronic) related to the project. * Be a first point of contact for internal and external queries for this project, to facilitate the provision of efficient and effective resolution of daily issues. * Maintains relationships with a range of individuals through provision of business support to assist in information sharing and service delivery to staff. * Proofreads reports, translations, documentation, correspondence, etc., making changes in line with established guidelines where appropriate. * Responds to queries and escalates where appropriate, in order to provide a timely and accurate service to clients.
* Within the specific area of responsibility, compiles data and supports analysis and preparation of reports in order to support operational decision-making. *Performs other duties as assigned.

• As an active OHCHR team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to OHCHR and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: o Administrative and logistical support ensured o Project budget followed and necessary actions taken • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed

  • A minimum of three years of experience in public administration or business administration
  • Experience working in international organizations is desirable.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
