This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

This UNV assignment is part of the UNICEF Afghanistan Country Office (ACO) administration team. Under the supervision of the Administrative Officer / Associate, the post holder will perform administrative functions for ACO.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Administration Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Admin Associate will:

• Support registering/entering new items along with details and record them in inventory data base. • Maintaining inventory data base of ACO in Excel and Lotus Notes. • Support in keeping update records of inventory in data base (Excel and Lotus Notes); • Recording the received items by office/guest and staff houses released from Logistics/warehouse in the databases. • Support reviewing of release order for purchased items from logistics section for the houses and office rooms. • Release the required items to staff members responsible for the houses and office including zonal offices. • Consolidating the list of obsolete, extra from the need of office items for PSB on quarterly basis from the stores custodians houses and offices at ACO. • Preparation of the supporting documentation for the items which will be presented/reviewed by PSB. • Coordinate with guest house and office custodians in the Implementation of approved PSB cases. • Support with recording, updating and reconciling of PSBed items in the Inventory Databases. • Generating the report on the status of NEP and Attractive assets to NYHQ yearly. • Support with physical count of office assets, NEP and attractive items on yearly basis. • Listing out assets which will be signed and received by custodians inside the office and in the accommodations. • Support with review of PSB Register of the cases which has been reviewed and implemented for the year. • List out released items from the stores that need to be supplied back as the store balance should be maintained. • Support zone offices technically in terms of making, maintaining, and updating the record of the databases. • Any other identical task that is assigned by the respective supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and taking an active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day). • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country. • Provide annual and end-of-assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results, and opportunities.
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc. • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers. • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

national and/or international level in administration, finance, or supply, or other relevant programmes; experience with office automations is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization.

• Possession of bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, e.g., business administration or area related to the post will be an advantage.

This is an office-based post within the UNOCA compound in Kabul

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.

Entitlement;

Entry lump sum: (one time payment)USD 400 Volunteer living allowance: (per month)USD 624 Exit allowance ( for each month served, paid on successful completion of the assignment): USD 50. Medical and life insurance Cigna private insurance.

Leave Entitlements; • Uncertified Sick Leaves: 7 days • Certified Sick Leave: 30 days • Maternity Leave: 16 weeks • Paternity Leave: 10 days leave • Training and leaning Leave: 10 working days per consecutive 12 months
