This is a G-5 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 5 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-5 contracts.

We are looking for five Administrative Assistants with some background in human resources and finance to support our departments to manage the workload. Your engagement will be based on an eight-month contract, during which you will be deployed in different departments for various periods of time.

We use complex enterprise systems and work on innovative projects in a dynamic environment.

As an Administrative Assistant, you will have the opportunity to support and learn about UNICEF GSSC’s work in several areas, as you will be moved between different departments in the office depending on needs, typically supporting areas such as Human Resources (onboarding, offboarding, benefits and entitlements), and Finance (for example invoice processing, payments, master data management, general accounting). Training will be provided in the various areas as may be needed.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical courses related to the scope of the job is required. A university (Bachelor’s) degree in a relevant field is an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in administration, human resources, and/or finance work is required. (A completed university degree from an accredited institution will be counted towards the minimum work experience requirements.)
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English is required. Flueny in Hungarian and/or knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

General Service (GS) staff are locally recruited staff and therefore, candidates are personally responsible for any travel and accommodation arrangements. UNICEF does not facilitate MFA accreditation for locally recruited staff.

Applicants must be nationals of EU countries or in possession of a valid work permit. Please attach a copy of your work permit to your application submission.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments are also subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).

Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
