Job Overview/Summary: The Youth Social Work Supervisor is responsible for implementing educational support services for refugee youth, their families and community partners (including New York City public school staff, universities, and local organizations) working with refugee youth. The Youth Social Work Supervisor has primary responsibility for school enrollment support and the School Success Program, which supports families of newly arrived children and youth to make a positive adjustment to school in NYC. They also play a leading role in the Newcomer Youth Summer Academy, which provides 5 weeks of intensive orientation and preparation for success in NYC public schools. They work closely with colleagues to ensure that the Youth Program goals and objectives are accomplished using a comprehensive, collaborative approach in partnership with school staff, partner organizations, parents, and newcomer youth themselves.

Major Responsibilities:

- Recruit, train, and manage a team of staff and Social Work student interns to serve as Student Support Coaches to support newly arrived students - Oversee school enrollment process for all newly arrived youth in coordination with IRC caseworkers, schools, and families. - Oversee School Success Program implementation, including intake, client assessment, individualized service planning and implementation, group workshops, and monitoring - Play a lead role in pre-program planning, student recruitment, caregiver engagement, and student support services for Newcomer Youth Summer Academy (NYSA) - Oversee student recruitment and enrollment for NYSA, involving outreach & coordination with families and community partners - Lead the NYSA student support team, designing guidance services, overseeing their implementation, and providing counseling as needed - Coordinate Social Emotional Learning and other group programming - Provide technical assistance for Saturday Youth Tutoring and Leaders in Training program, workshop facilitation, & implementation - Design & implement opportunities for parent/caregiver engagement - Support in the planning and implementation of social-emotional learning opportunities for students - Maintain program information and data collection systems in compliance with IRC standards and contractual obligations, contribute to strengthening program monitoring - Participate in Youth Program annual logical framework development and implementation, including design, monitoring, and evaluation activities related to School Success Program and NYSA - Ensure program participants are properly enrolled and files are up to date - Ensure program data is consistently collected and entered into relevant databases in accordance with the internal program framework and contractual obligations - Prepare annual reports on programs supervised for internal purposes, and prepare contractually required reports for programs supervised - Oversee case management and appropriate follow-up, ensuring all services provided to families are appropriately documented in case files - Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education:

- Masters of Social Work required, License Master Social Worker (LMSW) required - Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) certification preferred

Work Experience****:

- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working with children and youth, specifically in the context of educational and social programs - Familiarity working with refugee and/or immigrant populations required - Experience working with the New York City Public School system highly desirable - Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC’s work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives. - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills - Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially MS Excel - Ability to work well with people of diverse cultural backgrounds - A team player that also works well independently - Organized, responsible, and flexible: able to maintain responsibility for multiple tasks in the context of a diverse, fast-paced work environment - Fluency in English required; fluency in a second language highly desired (Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, French)

Working Environment:

- All applicants must be based in or be willing to work from our New York City office. - The coordinator is expected to be in-person Monday-Friday during mini-NYSA and NYSA which we plan to take place in-person in a centrally located public school in New York City. - May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
