Governance for sustainable development is one of the key priorities of UNDP DRC's CPD 2024. On June 11, 2021, UNDP and Sweden signed a multi-year partnership agreement to finance support for decentralization, local governance and development planning. On the one hand, the aim is to accelerate the process of territorial decentralization in all its dimensions (political, administrative and fiscal) in order to strengthen local governance, boost economic development at the grassroots level and improve the living conditions of the population. On the other hand, it is a question of supporting the central government, the provinces and the decentralized territorial entities (ETD) to build their own capacities for planning, programming, budgeting and monitoring-evaluation (PPBSE) of development based on the SDGs, with a view to accelerating the country's socio-economic development. The Program is considering the launch of a national initiative for youth to get involved in their respective communities to promote the SDGs. To this end, the program has set up a JERODD (Youth Reporters on the SDGs) initiative. The volunteer will have the task of supervising youth activities at the national level.
