Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

The ITU Telecommunications Development Bureau (BDT) holds a major conference every 4 years, the World Telecommunications Development Conference (WTDC). In 2021, we plan to host a Youth Summit attached to this conference. In preparation for this, we need to understand the landscape of global youth stakeholders and events. You will be working with an intern at ITU over a period of two weeks to identify key information about major global and regional youth organisations, as well as major events which have been or are being organized in the field of youth engagement. You will receive guidance on what information to look for, an example of the expected result, and an Excel database in which to compile your findings. We will have a call at the beginning of the volunteering period with detailed information and instructions for the research, and will be available to address any questions throughout the volunteering period.

Today's youth are the largest generation ever, and will face unprecedented challenges and opportunities related to ICTs in their lifetimes. Knowing this, ITU is adopting a Youth Strategy (draft: https://www.itu.int/md/D18-TDAG25.2-C-0016) which aims to focus ITU's work on youth in a strategic, coordinated and systematic way. In the context of this new strategy, ITU wants to promote youth engagement and listen to young voices at the 2021 WTDC conference. ITU is looking for potential partners in the area of youth engagement, and is interested in best practice examples of successful youth events. Your work will help us make the voice of youth heard by organizing an attractive and solution-oriented Youth Summit, with the goal of making youth engagement an integral part of ITU's work and fully including youth in the implementation of the SDGs.
