Contract
This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.
In recent years, there has been a growing movement of young people across the Asia-Pacific region calling for urgent action on the climate agenda. Through climate strikes and effective use of media, young people have been calling for governments and other relevant stakeholders to take collective action on climate change. However, young people are often marginalized and excluded from the decision-making processes that will shape their futures.
In 2020, the Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) was established by UNDP Asia-Pacific and UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia-Pacific, RCC Bangkok, in collaboration with UNICEF East Asia and the Pacific, UNICEF South Asia, British Council, YOUNGO, Movers Programme and 2030 Youth Force as a safe and inclusive space for youth across Asia and the Pacific to meaningfully engage in climate action.
YECAP is providing an opportunity for a motivated youth volunteer to contribute to the field of climate change. This assignment offers valuable learning and development experiences, which contribute to the volunteer's personal and professional growth while making a meaningful impact on climate action initiatives and helping in the achievement of SDG 13.
Under the direct supervision of the YECAP Project Manager, the Online Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: ● Provide coordination support for YECAP initiatives including mapping of organizations and rolling out of trainings for climate activists ● Assist in developing communication materials and other outputs to effectively disseminate the outcomes of YECAP to target audiences at regional and national levels.
Further information on the criteria of the courses will be provided prior to the start of the assignment.
The selected Online Volunteers will benefit from an expanded professional network and experience of directly getting involved with the ongoing work of UNDP in climate action for the Asia-Pacific region.
