This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Youth Development Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), with dotted reporting line to Youth team in UNDP China, the UNV Youth Community Engagement Assistant will:

  • Organise train-the-trainer camp for youth from China and facilitate online and offline Movers Programme workshops among youth communities in China and wider Asia Pacific;
  • Manage and oversee Movers Programme events and related social media communications in China;
  • Community engagement and management with alumni of the youth programme, including Movers Programme;
  • Maintain and develop partnership with partners and youth communities;
  • Support in designing, adapting and localizing Movers training curriculum and toolkits for Chinese context;
  • Bridge and mobilize partners and resources in China to co-convene Movers Programme activities, mentorship and module design;
  • Travel to facilitate Movers Programme workshops if needed;
  • Support the implementation of regional youth project Youth Co:Lab in China, including National Dialogue and Asia-Pacific Forum on Youth Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, etc.
  • Support the incorporation of Movers Programme with Soong Ching Ling Youth Project and Beijing Winter Olmypics Volunteer Service Project.

  • Support any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Educational additional comments

  • Master’s degree in communications, linguisitics, business management, marketing, international relations, social science or any related field;
  • Good command of English and Chinese, written and oral;
  • Demonstrates commitment to UN’s mission, vision and values;
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, diplomacy and sensitivity to confidential matters;
  • Previous engagement with youth-related work an asset;
  • Previous assignment in a similar position would be desirable;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels;

Experience remark
