This is a UNV International Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Youth contracts.

The Resident Coordinator’s Office would like to engage a Youth Climate Action Volunteer to contribute to research and analysis associated with Climate Action in the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework development and update of the Common Country Assessment.

Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader and in close coordination with the Resident Coordinator, the UN Youth Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Closely liaison with the four UN Entities working on environment, climate change and biodiversity. • Contribute to the research and analysis for the update of the Common Country Assessment. • Support the Data and Results Reporting Officer with monitoring UN’s climate action targets in the context of the Cooperation Framework. • Support the Partnership and Development Financing Officer with climate action partnerships and dialogues with private sector to build back better through green recovery. • Supporting the development of advocacy and communications campaigns and amplifying messaging to promote climate action, including through close liaison with the UN Communications Group with a specific focus on young people.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by read-ing relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day). • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country. • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities. • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc. • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers. • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Results/Expected Outputs:

• RCO supported through Climate Action knowledge management and promotion through-out the UN System. • The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counter-parts, including Implementing Partners (IPs). • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated, and documented in all activities throughout the assignment • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed

or demonstrated interest (up to 2 years) in research, analysis, coordination. • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded. • Experienced or familiar with the international development context, particularly in cli-mate action or environment would be highly regarded.

Bangkok allows basic living needs, including accommodation, banking facilities, medical facilities and telecommunications/internet services are readily available. All staple foods can be found in the markets, e.g.: rice, meat, vegetables, fruit, cooking oil, salt, etc. Bangkok has different public transportation options, including the BTS Skytrain and MRT Underground, metered taxis, mobile-based ride-hailing services (Grab, All Thai Taxi, etc.), tuk tuks, motorbike taxis, buses, and boats. A mobile phone is the most dependable tool to be in-touch with colleagues and friends. Internet service is readily available and affordable at most apartment complexes.
