Job Overview:

The Youth Career Coach is responsible for program implementation and service delivery for refugee and immigrant youth ages 14-26 with trauma-informed, culturally accessible, integrated economic empowerment services. Specifically, the Youth Career Coach delivers client-facing services including client assessments and intakes, career coaching, goal setting, job search assistance, job placement services, soft-skills training, and enrollment in post-secondary and certification programs. The Youth Career Coach provides intensive, individualized case management services to support youth in achieving their goals, including referrals to IRC’s gender equity programs, mental health services, and community integration.

The Youth Career Coach works closely with both the In-School Youth Team and the Career Development Team to ensure that youth are accessing vital resources they need to succeed. The Youth Team is responsible for providing wraparound services to youth including educating on in-school resource support, how to navigate post-secondary opportunities, and mentorship. The Career Development Team is responsible for providing career counseling, job search assistance, and job placement services.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide client-facing services to refugee and immigrant youth ages 18-26, including client assessments and intakes, career coaching, goal setting, job search assistance, job placement services, soft-skills training, and enrollment in post-secondary and certification programs - Provide intensive, individualized case management services to support youth in achieving their goals, including referrals to IRC’s gender equity programs, mental health services, and community integration - Work closely with the Youth Team and the Career Development Team to ensure that youth are accessing vital resources - Document client progress and outcomes, and track program metrics - Participate in program meetings, staff development activities, and other professional development opportunities - Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols of the agency

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: Career Development Coordinator

Position directly supervises: Interns and volunteers

Internal and/or external contacts: Coordinates regularly with local partners and internal IRC teams, including Employment, Youth, and Safety and Wellness, to facilitate referrals to address client barriers

Job Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, education, or a related field - At least 2 years’ experience working with youth ages 14-26, especially WIOA program or other youth-related teaching or workforce experience - At least 2 years’ experience working in employment and workforce programs - At least 2 years’ experience with client counseling, case management, or coaching strongly preferred - Experience with higher education including community colleges, adult schools, and technical training providers is a plus - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills - Strong interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds - Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

- Multi-cultural experience and demonstrated ability to communicate well with people of varied backgrounds - Ability to effectively set service expectations and coach youth towards shared goals - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills - Strong interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds - Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Language Skills:

Proficiency in Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Arabic, Russian, or Ukrainian, an asset

Working Environment: Standard office environment including regular travel to employer and partner sites.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
