This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

Poor water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) have turned out to be among the main contributors of premature death, lowered participation in schooling, and complications in healthcare in Papua New Guinea. We propose to meet the need of reducing these issues first by increasing the breadth of information available on WaSH capability, infrastructure, and public knowledge in Papua New Guinea, focusing in the Huon District to start. By raising awareness we hope to adapt the prescribed protocol for WaSH in the Huon District and further afield in time. MDF has dedicated different projects to promote WaSH knowledge and practices within communities: however, most of the projects were carried out without first using facts on basic baseline data on the situation on the ground, even though we know how this is important to planning.

The project will aim to train public health workers to create survey forms to be used on mobile phones for survey purposes.

With the concept idea already submitted and accepted by the Canadian Embassy, MDF now requires the support of three Online Volunteers in proposal writing to: - assist in researching and fully develop a proposal - assess the current level of knowledge and common practices - review the existing WINS survey forms (developed by Morobe Development Foundation for Schools in PNG) - make the survey appropriate for schools and local community context of rural Papua New Guinea (approximately 1 month and half of work) - pilot the survey forms through a water application tool called Kobo Toolkit and an Android Phone (another 1 month)

WASH Engineering and Public Health Surveying experience and qualification is essential Must be able to write and publish a journal PhD students in these fields mentioned are encouraged to apply Can work towards a deadline and can work with limited supervision An effective team players and can produce high impact results
