Job Description

BACKGROUND:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. In response to the situation in Libya, the IRC launched an emergency program in September 2016 which aimed to provide life-saving medical care and integrated protection services. At present, the IRC is implementing health and protection activities in multiple cities across Libya, while expanding its protection department, with a focus on community-based protection, the rule of law, child protection, violence against women and girls, and MHPSS across all its project locations. Recently, the IRC has established a center for psychosocial support activities for women and adolescent girls (WGSS), and for children (SHLS) in the eastern cities of Libya durin the Storm Daniel emergency and is aiming to expand to Al-Kufra city. The IRC’s Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) program has been operational since 2016. The WPE program provide life-saving services to conflict-affected and displaced women and girls, including violence against women and girls survivors, IDPs, Migrants and host community women and girls are provided with a safe space to access case management and psychosocial support and to attend skills-building and socio-economic empowerment activities. The IRC also works through local women led organizations and is in the process of identifying more CSOs to channel through its protection programming especially about women protection and empowerment.

Job Overview/Summary:

under the supervision of the WPE senior officer, the Adolescents and Caregivers Facilitator will work as part of WPE Team and will be responsible for facilitating psychosocial services, including Case Management, group-based psychosocial activities through WGSS service delivery units to displaced women and girls and survivors of violence against women and girls.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Facilitator shall:

Provide group psychosocial support to women and girls; facilitate sessions focused on building awareness of different themes related to their wellbeing, safety planning, and deliver key messages on violence against women and girls.

· Provide age-appropriate case management to violence survivors, including assessment of survivor needs; basic crisis counseling; supporting clients in addressing their needs and safely implementing referrals.

Provide essential information on available services and support survivors in navigating the referral pathways and accessing services

Participate in facilitating multiple curriculums including; the Life Skills curriculum, the Girl Shine and Caregiver Curriculums, the Arab Women Speak Out Curriculum, Women Rise and another behavior change strategies that the IRC WPE team may adopt for its programming.

Lead age-appropriate and specialized group emotional services for adolescent girls through identified or established safe spaces.

Carry out community outreach and awareness raising on available services and key messages on violence against women and girls

Comply with WPE standard of Do No Harm policy and ensuring the safe planning of activity conduction and clients safety.

Identify concerns related to and support adherence to referral protocols and guiding principles, and bring these concerns to the WPE Senior Officer.

· Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including community leaders and other humanitarian partners and service providers.

· Document all program and client activity in an accurate and timely manner using standardized tools and forms, and Ensure that information collected form clients is secured and kept confidential.

· Complete weekly and monthly activity reports, according to guidance provided by the WPE Senior Officer.

· Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure successful implementation of WPE activities.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: the Facilitator position will directly report to the Senior WPE Officer.

Qualifications
