You have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, or other relevant field.
  • At least 4 years of relevant post-graduate professional experience in communications, direct experience in creative content creation for staff engagement and/or behaviour change communications.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (level C) is required.
  • An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese is a plus.
  • Strong content creation skills for a variety of platforms/formats ensuring consistency with our WFP brand and values.
  • Strong time management and planning skills.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
  • Proactive and highly organized.
  • Experienced with platforms such as SharePoint, Teams, Forms, Yammer, an asset.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change. WFP has 22,000 dedicated employees globally, with the majority working in field.

WFP is currently seeking a dynamic communications professional to generate exciting ideas and campaigns around workplace culture issues within the UN food agency. The successful candidate will work within the Internal Communications Unit (ICE) and closely with the People and Culture Coordination Unit (PCC) in the Workplace Culture department. We are looking for someone to create engaging, platform-specific content on a broad range of workplace culture issues including copy, photos and multimedia content. The candidate will be expected to work closely with cross-functional team members transforming ideas into content that describes and promotes WFP a people centric workplace. You will work with the People and Culture team on campaigns to embed the WFP Values – Integrity Collaboration Commitment Humanity and Inclusion – and support implementation of diversity and inclusion including Respect+ You will be expected to work harmoniously in a multi cultural team. The duty station is Rome, from where you will have the possibility of teleworking from home a few days per week.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Workplace Culture Portfolio Manager will work closely with the People and Culture Coordination Unit to execute the below:

  • Create engaging, platform-specific content on a broad range of workplace culture issues including copy, photos and multimedia content;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members on ideas with the aim of creating dynamic content that describes and promotes WFP Values, Diversity & Inclusion, a people-centric workplace;
  • Create and update toolkits and databases for internal communications campaigns. - With guidance from the PCC, support communications for the global roll out of Respect+;
  • Plan/manage WP initiatives including campaigns to embed the WFP Values;
  • Execute relevant internal campaigns through the development of concepts and recommending appropriate corporate platforms;
  • Support implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives such as the Disability Inclusion (DI) internal campaign;
  • Other related duties as required.

DELIVERABLES:

  • Successful creation of content to support corporate Workplace Culture initiatives, including Respect+ and Diversity Equality and Inclusion initiatives;
  • Successful implementation of engagement and communications initiatives to achieve a boost in staff activity on internal platforms;
  • Successful support of internal campaigns for workplace culture.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, or other relevant field.

Experience: At least 4 years of relevant post-graduate professional experience in communications, direct experience in creative content creation for staff engagement and/or behaviour change communications is a strong asset.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of WFP’s corporate culture and the UN system in general an asset.
  • Strong content creation skills for a variety of platforms/formats ensuring consistency with our WFP brand and values
  • Creative thinking and strong visual sense; Familiarity with design process and visualizing complex concepts Competent and confident use of Power Point, MS Office;
  • Experience with platforms such as SharePoint, Teams, Forms, Yammer, an asset;
  • Experience with creative employee engagement initiatives an asset;
  • Strong communications skills to persuade, influence and negotiate with stakeholders;
  • Ability to work harmoniously with people of different national and cultural backgrounds;
  • Must work well independently and within a matrix team structure;
  • Proactive and highly organized, with strong time management and planning skills;
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.

Languages: Excellent knowledge of English (level C) is required. An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is a plus.
