Role Summary

We are seeking a Workday Financials Systems Lead to join our team. This will be a one year contract. Reporting into the Financial Controller, as a Workday Financials Systems Lead, you will be responsible for managing and optimising the Workday Financials system since our go-live in October 2023. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, IT, and business operations, to ensure the configuration and, maintenance and ongoing development of Workday Financials modules meet the company's ambition. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and extensive knowledge of Workday Financials and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the ongoing management of Workday Financials modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Reporting.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to oversee system requirements, design solutions, and configure Workday Financials to meet business needs.
  • Lead and implement on Workday upgrades, enhancements, and integrations with other enterprise systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Workday Financial Management system-related issues, troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Provide ongoing support and systems training to end users on system functionality and ensure best practices.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including process flows, user guides, and training materials.
  • Lead system testing, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Industry standards.
  • Management of the Adaptive insights system and integrations to Workday, working closely with the FP&A and key stakeholders to ensure the system is up to date with the Institute's reporting, financial modelling, and planning requirements.
  • Implement and configure supplier contracts, asset management, month-end workflow, donor reporting, executive dashboards, and OCR and bank integrations.
  • As a confident systems expert, provide Workday training to finance and non-finance personnel globally.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within Workday Financials.
  • Stay current with Workday releases and industry best practices.

Person Specification

The post holder will be a proactive, forward-looking Workday Finance professional with proven experience in upscaling the Workday Finance System to meet business needs in line with compliance and regulatory requirements.

Therefore, the successful candidate for the role should be able to display the majority of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g. CPA, CMA, Workday Certification) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management or accounting roles, with at least 3 years of experience working with Workday Financial Management.
  • Strong knowledge of Workday Financials modules and configuration.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and mentor in regard to system usage.
  • Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Systems@work and Sage 200, not essential
  • Experience with Adaptive Planning is an advantage.
