UN Women’s triple mandate, along with its global network and deep policy and programming expertise, continues to endow the Entity with a unique capacity to: (i) support Member States to strengthen global norms and standards for gender equality and women’s empowerment, and mainstream gender perspectives in other thematic areas; (ii) promote coordination and coherence across the UN system to enhance accountability and results for gender equality and women’s empowerment; and (iii) undertake operational activities to support Member States, upon their request, in translating global norms and standards into legislation, policies and strategies at country level.

UN Women plays an innovative and catalytic role in the State of Palestine since its inception in 1997 (as UNIFEM). In line with the national priorities, the work of UN Women for the period 2023-2025 is aligned with three of the Palestine United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework’s (UNSDCF) outcomes:

  • Palestinians have greater access to economic opportunities that are inclusive, resilient, and sustainable, including decent employment and livelihoods opportunities in an empowered private sector.
  • Palestinians, including the most vulnerable, have equal access to sustainable, inclusive, gender responsive and quality social services, social protection, and affordable utilities.
  • Palestinian governance institutions, processes, and mechanisms at all levels are more democratic, rights-based, inclusive, and accountable.

Its three-year Strategic Note supports the efforts to achieve measurable results in country in terms of four UN Women global Strategic Plan impacts (2022-2025): (SP Impact 1). Governance and participation in public life; (SP Impact 2). Women’s Economic Empowerment; (SP Impact 3). Ending Violence Against Women and Girls and; SP Impact 4. Women peace and security, Humanitarian & Disaster Risk Reduction.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of UN Women Special Representative and the direct supervision of UN Women Sawasya Programme Specialist in Ramallah, UN Women will engage a Prosecution and Inclusivity Analyst to provide technical, managerial, and administrative support throughout the programming process to support interventions on rule of law and inclusivity, contributing to knowledge building and knowledge sharing across UN Women Palestine Country Office. The post is based in UN Women’s Sub-Office in Ramallah.

The Prosecution and Inclusivity Analyst will undertake the following tasks but not limited to support of UN Women’s interventions:

  1. Contribute technical input to the development of related strategies on Rule of Law and Inclusivity:
  • Provide technical inputs to the design and formulation of the assigned interventions’ proposals and initiatives, including budgets.

  • Provide contributions/inputs to the office Biennial/Annual Work Plan and Annual Report.

  • Advise on potential areas of strategic programming growth as relevant to SN outcomes.

2. Provide support to the implementation and management of UN Women interventions/initiatives :

  • Provide inputs to interventions/initiatives annual workplan and budget as required;
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of activities;
  • Contribute technical inputs to the consultants’ deliverables.
  • Review and coordinate the submission of consultants’ deliverables.
  • Contribute to the call/request for proposals, including the organization of technical review committees, and capacity assessment of partners;
  • Review and coordinate the submission of implementing partner financial and narrative reports;
  • Monitor progress on results;
  • Provide inputs to quarterly reports, donor reports and other reports on outputs, results outputs and outcomes;

3. Provide technical assistance and capacity development support to implementing partners:

  • Provide technical support to governmental and non- governmental partners as needed;
  • Provide technical support oversee the implementation of interventions with partners;
  • Identify opportunities for capacity building of partners, coordinate and facilitate technical support and training to partners as needed.

4. Contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies:

  • Provide inputs to resource mobilization strategies; analyze and maintain information and databases.
  • Provide inputs to relevant documentation such as interventions’ summaries, conference papers, briefing notes, speeches, and donor profiles.

5. Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building / sharing, and communication efforts

  • Provide technical inputs to background documents, briefs and presentations related to relevant thematic areas;
  • Coordinate and support the organization of advocacy activities and campaigns events, trainings, workshops and knowledge products;
  • Provide inputs to the development of knowledge management products of relevant interventions;
  • Contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice;
  • Support in the preparation and implementation of dissemination plans of knowledge products;
  • Keep up to date with the latest advancement in the field of information and knowledge sharing.

  • Any other duties as requested by supervisors.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • A Master’s degree in social work, psychology, law, human rights, gender or other related fields.

Experience:

  • At least 4 years of experience in the area of Violence Against Women (VAW), and the rule of law.
  • Previous experience with the Palestinian governmental and non- governmental organizations in areas related to women’s protection and access to justice is an asset.
  • Previous experience in areas related to gender inclusive services and policies, particularly as pertaining to women with disabilities and elderly women is an asset. Previous experience with the UN system is an asset.

Language:

Fluency in both English and Arabic language
