Duties and Responsibilities Organisational Setting

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded IWEco project – Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States project – is a five-year multi-focal area regional intervention that applies a “Ridge to Reef” approach integrating watershed and coastal areas management in small islands for addressing the multiple challenges of sustainable water, land (including forests) and biodiversity management and conservation within the spatial framework of the watershed unit.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the preservation of Caribbean ecosystems that are of global significance and the sustainability of livelihoods through the application of existing proven technologies and approaches that are appropriate for small island developing states. A total of ten Caribbean countries are participating in the project: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and St. Vincent and Grenadines.

The Project is co-implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and co-executed by UN Environment’s Caribbean Environment Programme (CEP)/Secretariat to the Cartagena Convention and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). The Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) is located at CEP in Kingston, Jamaica.

The objective of this one-month consultancy is to review the existing Project website, ensure maximum functionality, upgrade one section, review and streamline social media and provide additional support to enable the Project Coordination Unit to maintain and update the website (www.iweco.org) that serves as the primary portal/clearinghouse for archiving and dissemination of knowledge products generated by the Project.

Duties and responsibilities

The consultant will:

1. Review and troubleshooting of website functionality, including processes for upload of new content and internal page linkages. (fix issue with dashboard images not being displayed, new pages not being properly formatted after being published, force HTTPS on all incoming traffic, include CAPTCHA functionality on Newsletter subscription form) 2. Updating of website maintenance manual as needed. 3. Creation of country specific publications pages showing relevant publications category-wise and linking to the respective country pages. 4. Redistribute and update content as needed. 5. Creation of new Facebook page to be linked to the Project website and Twitter and Instagram accounts seamlessly. 5. One (1) Webinar/session for designated members of the PCU re. upload of content and maintenance.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Strong client orientation and creativity and proven capacity to plan and to deliver web-related projects on time. Good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. Academic Qualifications: BSc in Computer Science or equivalent qualification. Certification in web development Experience: Knowledge of, and at least three (3) years of experience with, the Drupal Content Management System, Apache web server, MySQL database and PHP scripting; CSS scripting; Javascript. Proven Screen/Template Design Experience; Strong Website Design Experience; Multimedia and Social Media Design Experience. Language: Proficiency in oral and written English.
