Org. Setting and Reporting This position will be temporarily vacant until December 31, 2022. This position is located in the Secretariat of the Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Justice in Environmental Matters in Latin America and the Caribbean (Escazú Agreement) in the Policy Unit for Sustainable Development of the Division of Sustainable Development and Human Settlements.

Responsibilities Under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Sustainable Development Policy Unit, the Web Design Assistant will support the performance of secretariat functions with respect to the website and clearing-house of the Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Justice in Environmental Matters in Latin America and the Caribbean (Escazú Agreement) and be responsible for the following functions:

  • Assists with the planning, layout, design and development of platforms Implementation and frontend development in CMS technology Design of graphic pieces associated with the projects for the Escazú Agreement Project, P10.
  • Assists with the data collection, analysis, planning, layout and development, in conjunction with the Project Manager, of the needs of the clients.
  • Advises on the creation of proposals and implementation of graphic design, taking into account criteria of accessibility, usability and compatibility with mobile devices, especially in the development of the platform P10 Acuerdo de Escazú, P10.
  • Undertakes the creation of themes and templates following the guidelines or graphic models ensuring their fidelity to the proposed design.
  • Ensures adequate transmission of knowledge to the team through the relevant documentation.
  • Performs other functions as needed.
  • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. •Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job - Specific Qualification Complementary training in Digital Design and Digital Content Management is desirable.

Work Experience A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in web development, analysis, and programming of information systems, in graphic design, marketing and elaboration of advertising pieces is required.

Two years of experience providing specialized assistance in planning, development and execution of responsive web design and digital content management in Drupal is desirable.

Experience in programming languages such as HTML5, CSS3, Java Script is desirable.

Experience in management of graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Animate is desirable

Experience in handle the GIT version driver at intermediate level is desirable

1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in English and Spanish (both spoken and written) is required.
