This is a Consultancy contract. More about Consultancy contracts.

**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Field Office Duty Station: Quito Job Family: Computer Sciences / Information Technologies Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 1 to 6 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 23/09/2021 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- The consultancy aims to prepare, upload audiovisual material, and manage a micro-site, on the Transmedia ICH4D pilot project, an innovative intersectoral initiative to mobilize digital tools for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage and traditional knowledge in the Andean countries. All the work will be carried out in coordination with a counterpart designated by the Department of Public Information (DPI) of UNESCO Headquarters. BACKGROUND ---------- The consultancy aims to support the functional and editorial of a digital platform (UNESCO micro-site) that allows the storage of audiovisual resources (such as texts, images, photographs, videos and audio files) on prioritized elements of the ICH of the countries of the Andean sub-region, which will be agglutinated through a scripted narrative that emerges, is raised and built from the contents and themes addressed by the aforementioned resources. The design and structure of the platform, which should be interactive, dynamic and creative, will be developed under the supervision and guidance of UNESCO’s Department of Public Information. The platform’s layout and overall structure should allow the user to easily navigate it, which will contribute, on the one hand, to highlight the cultural diversity of the peoples and communities of the countries of the Andean subregion as a fundamental element for the construction of cohesive and peaceful societies and, on the other hand, to reflect on different dimensions and thematic areas related to the 2030 Agenda and sustainable development based on the ICH, as well as traditional and community practices of transmission and safeguarding. In this sense, the audiovisual resources will give visibility to the life of communities and ICH bearers, as well as teachers and educators who use ICH as a tool to ensure inclusive and relevant educational processes, highlighting the relationship between them and their living heritage through a comprehensive record of their knowledge, traditions, teaching methodologies, dreams, aspirations, proposals and recommendations. In this sense, the record to be made will seek to achieve the following objectives: • To provide an overview of the selected practices in particular and cultural heritage in general, highlighting their importance for social cohesion, peaceful community coexistence, and the building of bridges between communities, territories and social groups (including gender roles). • To highlight the resilience mechanisms that are based on or arise from ICH manifestations, with the objective of highlighting the link between these and the processes of prevention, mitigation, response and social and economic recovery before, during and after crisis or emergency situations. • To enhance and give visibility to the impacts that COVID-19 held on ICH elements, bearers and communities involved. • To make visible the traditional mechanisms of intergenerational transmission of the manifestations, including their recent transformations, highlighting the non-formal (community, intra-family, etc.) and formal (use of ICH in formal educational settings) educational processes; and making visible the challenges faced by the transmission at present. Exploring and making visible the links between the events and the four pillars of sustainable development (people, planet, prosperity and peace).
