Revamped Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish language versions of the OSAA website by 14 November 2023

New content uploaded on the website within 2 working days after receipt of request for posting, or by a specific delivery date agreed upon in writing, throughout the duration of the contract.

All outputs should be accessible on the production server of the OSAA website, with complete source code and documentation uploaded to the code repository utilized by the Office. The direct and additional supervisors must be notified by email at the time of delivery of all outputs.

Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of a Senior Programme Management Officer and a Public Information Officer, the individual contractor will perform the following tasks:

1. Redesign and reorganize the Africa Dialogue Series (ADS) microsite (https://www.un.org/osaa/ads) for enhanced user experience and to allow easy navigation and access to information, including by date, themes and speakers. - Create wireframes and mockups for website layout and structure, optimizing element placement, including text, images, buttons, etc. - Design, prototype, develop and maintain website components in a managed Drupal 7 environment, creating elements, such as JavaScript and CSS snippets, that can be reused - Ensure the implementation of responsive website components that works well across different devices, screen sizes and languages, conducting the required testing and evaluation - Update website layout and functionalities based on user feedback and analytics - Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and goals, including the presentation of newly implemented website features. - Create solutions for identified problems or bugs while maintaining up-to-date technical documentation of new and existing website features.

2. Optimize the interactive elements of the OSAA website, including the home page carousel and multimedia slideshows, to work with new content produced by OSAA. - Ensure the implementation of responsive website components that works well across different devices, screen sizes and languages, conducting the required testing and evaluation - Update website layout and functionalities based on user feedback and analytics - Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and goals, including the presentation of newly implemented website features. - Create solutions for identified problems or bugs while maintaining up-to-date technical documentation of new and existing website features.

3. Update the Report and Publications section (https://www.un.org/osaa/content/reports-and-publications) to allow the browsing of titles by specific criteria, including keywords, themes and publication date. - Create wireframes and mockups for website layout and structure, optimizing element placement, including text, images, buttons, etc. - Design, prototype, develop and maintain website components in a managed Drupal 7 environment, creating elements, such as JavaScript and CSS snippets, that can be reused - Ensure the implementation of responsive website components that works well across different devices, screen sizes and languages, conducting the required testing and evaluation - Update website layout and functionalities based on user feedback and analytics - Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and goals, including the presentation of newly implemented website features. - Create solutions for identified problems or bugs while maintaining up-to-date technical documentation of new and existing website features.

4. Develop and maintain new microsites, including the interactive versions of OSAA flagship reports, the Africa Knowledge Network and the Think Tank Network. - Create wireframes and mockups for website layout and structure, optimizing element placement, including text, images, buttons, etc. - Design, prototype, develop and maintain website components in a managed Drupal 7 environment, creating elements, such as JavaScript and CSS snippets, that can be reused - Ensure the implementation of responsive website components that works well across different devices, screen sizes and languages, conducting the required testing and evaluation - Update website layout and functionalities based on user feedback and analytics - Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and goals, including the presentation of newly implemented website features. - Create solutions for identified problems or bugs while maintaining up-to-date technical documentation of new and existing website features.

5. Revamp the Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish language versions of the website to align with the English version from a structure and content perspective. - Create wireframes and mockups for website layout and structure, optimizing element placement, including text, images, buttons, etc. - Design, prototype, develop and maintain website components in a managed Drupal 7 environment, creating elements, such as JavaScript and CSS snippets, that can be reused - Ensure the implementation of responsive website components that works well across different devices, screen sizes and languages, conducting the required testing and evaluation - Update website layout and functionalities based on user feedback and analytics - Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and goals, including the presentation of newly implemented website features. - Create solutions for identified problems or bugs while maintaining up-to-date technical documentation of new and existing website features.

6. Upload new content, and re-organize legacy content as required, tracking performance using Google Analytics and relevant Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tools and techniques. - Contribute to the validation of content to be uploaded on the website for accuracy and correctness, in close coordination with substantive focal points - Maintain a record of procedures and changes carried out on the website for business continuity purpose, updating these materials on a regular basis - Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and goals, including the presentation of newly implemented website content. - Create solutions for identified problems or bugs while maintaining up-to-date technical documentation of new and existing website features.

7. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills A first-level university degree, in computer science, software engineering, web applications design and development, or a related field is required. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience designing and developing websites running on Drupal 7 is required. Experience implementing complex web design and development solutions using expert-level HTML, CSS, and JavaScript coding is required. Experience implementing responsive websites, including interactive elements, developed using advanced UI and UX concepts, tools, and techniques, is required Experience resolving website accessibility issues based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines is required. Experience implementing and managing multilingual websites using content management systems comparable to Drupal is required, Experience with agile project management is desirable.

Languages Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required. Knowledge of other United Nations official languages is an advantage.
