Result of Service - At least 200 communication and advocacy products produced and published on social media to build awareness on violence against children’s issues, fostering international networking, and collaborative action for the rights and protection of children from all forms of violence in line with the mandate of the OSRSG-VAC.

  • Website child participation.un.org published with at least six different thematic sections and it is timely updated with most recent child participation initiatives in six UN official languages-Arabic, English, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.

  • Database “Mainstreaming Violence against Children in Voluntary National Reviews” created and published in all six UN official showcasing evaluation of voluntary national reviews presented at the High-Level Political Fora drawing out and sharing main themes, messages and lessons learned on progress towards the protection of children from violence in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Production of at least 15 videos with high-impact social media content, including graphics, videos and other multimedia formats that effectively inform and engage external audiences and support media and advocacy campaigns showcasing the work of the OSRSG-VAC and the rights of children and young people.

    Duties and Responsibilities Guided by General Assembly resolution 62/141, in which the Assembly established the mandate, the Special Representative is a global, independent advocate for the prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against children.

The contractor will contribute to institutional public communication efforts of the OSRSG-VAC in different UN official languages, to promote multilingualism, in particular in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the OSRSG-VAC online digital communication strategy, with a focus on social media management, graphic design, video and photo editing, campaign implementation and website maintenance and development the production of high-quality digital content through good research, analysis of assigned topics and timely preparation and distribution information products to target audiences.

Under the guidance of the Communication Officer, the Contractor will provide support the implementation of the communication strategy of the Office of the SRSG-VAC co-engagement office individual work plan, enhance the existing online communication and advocacy platforms -website, intranet and social media- support the production of graphic design and multimedia products and consolidate activities to accelerate efforts for efficient deliverables.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: University degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in communication, media studies, graphic design or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: A minimum of one year experience in the field of communication, graphic-design, web-design or social media content production. Knowledge of website development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Bootstrap) as well as experience working with Drupal. Experience with multimedia production for social media, particularly working with Adobe Creative Package, Excellent video editing skills. Knowledge of UN procedures/rules. Language: Fluency and excellent drafting skills in English.
