Duties and Responsibilities Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), UNDRR has over 120 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices. Specifically, UNDRR guides, monitors, analyses and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, supports regional and national implementation of the Framework and catalyses action and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk working with U.N. Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians and the science and technology community. The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) seeks a consultant to help create, maintain and improve the quality and accessibility of its expansive library of online material. This role focuses on content performance, accessible content and improving website content tooling. In addition to content strategy, there may be design and technical aspects to this role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in web content and Drupal to grow their expertise in accessibility, web content strategy, page theme building and other related areas where the candidate has an interest (UX, technical tooling, Drupal, CSS, JavaScript or similar). This role is 100% remote, the successful candidate will be available to collaborate with a team based in Central Europe. The successful candidate will join the UNDRR Content and Channels team, responsible for more than 10 Drupal 9-based websites (multi-domain) that advocate for reducing disaster risk. Among those sites is PreventionWeb.net, the global knowledge sharing platform for disaster risk reduction and resilience. As an example of activities, the successful candidate would be involved with: during the past six months, the Content and Channels team: - Has implemented the Gutenberg visual web editor for Drupal 9. - Studied user journeys across UNDRR.org and revised key user paths. - Continues to refactor the platform’s theme layers and information architecture to support more performant and accessible content. - Begun developing a modular web component library to support holistic theming and content patterns across all UNDRR web properties. Within limits of delegated authority, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Support content creation, page building and design across UNDRR’s websites 2. Provide training, guidance and documentation on web best practice 3. Contribute to the evolution of UNDRR’s Drupal platform

Qualifications/special skills Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field is required. A first level university degree with a combination of two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. At least 5 years of experience in web content management, public information, digital communications, social media, web content management, or other relevant field is required. Experience using web content management systems (CMS), photo editing software, web analytics, accessibility is required. Expertise with web accessibility best practice is required. Experience with writing basic HTML, JS and CSS is required. Experience with various versions of Drupal (8, 9, 10) and recent versions of WordPress is desirable. Familiarity with Mailchimp, Kanban and Agile methodologies, experience with UX, content modeling and user journeys, knowledge of Google Analytics 4, DRR, climate change or sustainable development is desirable.

Languages- Fluency in spoken and written English is required. - Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
