You have:

  • An Advanced level university degree in digital media, public information, communication, international affairs or other relevant areas is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with 2 years additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • 5 years' experience using content management systems (CMS), photo editing software, web analytics, basic HTML editing is required.
  • Experience with Drupal, MailChimp, SharePoint, CSS is desirable.
  • Experience of DRR, climate change or sustainable development is desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), UNDRR has over 150 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices. Specifically, UNDRR guides, monitors, analyses and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, supports regional and national implementation of the Framework and catalyzes action and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk working with UN Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians and the science and technology community. Within limits of delegated authority, the individual contractor will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Act as the main content manager for the Global Platform website Support testing of the site prior to release of new features Prepare content for publication on the site Perform content quality control prior to publication Add relevant metadata to content Prepare relevant images and graphics Adjust formatting using HTML and CSS Migrate content from the event virtual platform to the website after the conference 2. Support content management tasks on UNDRR websites including UNDRR corporate website, campaign websites, event websites, PreventionWeb Draft abstracts in English for web news, documents, events Provide user support to other editors Prepare web analytics reports 3. Support social media content production and dissemination for the promotion of the Global Platform Prepare social cards and draft social posts Share social packages with relevant partners Post GP session videos on UNDRR YouTube channel 4. Prepare and disseminate email updates for registered participants The Individual Contractor will be home based and will work directly under the supervision of the Website Officer, UNDRR Comms, Content & Channels Team.
