Duties and Responsibilities OCHA is conducting a complete refresh of its corporate website, unocha.org. The exercise aims to make unocha.org the go-to site for information about humanitarian issues relating to OCHA’s work and mandate. The refresh also intends to improve the user experience both in terms of content, navigation, and the overall visual aspect. OCHA seeks to recruit two Web content consultants. Within delegated authority the Chief of the Strategic Communications Branch, the Web content consultant is responsible for the following duties:

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of current contents of the OCHA Corporate website to be archived/retained/updated.
  • Lay out a new site detailed structure based on revised content and information structure.
  • Develop a new content strategy, ensuring the Website publicize accurately OCHA’s mandate and advocacy priorities.
  • Develop a content planning tool and publishing pipeline (Trello).
  • Develop a style guide for new site and training documentation.
  • Develop a template for inputs from OCHA’s Divisions/Branches/Unit and country offices.
  • Draft original content for the OCHA corporate website in collaboration with OCHA HQ divisions and country and regional offices.
  • Edits news and feature stories for the OCHA corporate website, and ensures that it conforms with OCHA standards, policy, and practice.
  • The consultants with work in close collaboration with OCHA SCB’s Web Editor (under recruitment) and social media and multimedia teams.

    Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: A first-level university degree is required. Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience managing corporate websites and writing for digital media is required. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
