Support UNICEF's water programme as a national volunteer
You have:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in WASH related fields is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in water supply, sanitation and hygiene, rural/community development, behavioral change, and project management.
- Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory.
- Working knowledge of English is mandatory.
- Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with GIS applications would be an asset.
Contract
This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.
Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Description of task
Under the direct supervision of the WASH specialist, leading the water supply team, the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Support organization of information on water supply related interventions, including GIS mapping of interventions undertaken in previous years;
- Support the documentation of good practices and development of technical notes for water supply interventions conducted by UNICEF and partners in previous years.
- Undertake field monitoring and reporting of WASH related interventions implemented with UNICEF support;
- Support field work and analysis of information related to operation, maintenance and management of water supply systems as per the various UNICEF interventions.
- Support communication activities and liaise with UNICEF communications department for dissemination of UNICEF WASH interventions over mass and social media.
- Support the development and dissemination of capacity building and training materials;
- Assist in the monitoring and management of implementation agreements (project cooperation agreements, contracts, etc.)
- Contribution in the development of WASH programme / water supply related reports and other monitoring and reporting documentation as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
- Minimum “Licenciatura" in WASH related domains of: civil / sanitary / environmental engineering sociology, public health or related fields
Required experience:
24 Months
Experience remark:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the domains of; water supply, santiation and hygiene, rural / community development, behavioural change and project managment
- Fluency in Portuguese and working knowledge of English. Familiarity / knowledge of local languages will be an asset.
