- Knowledge of the context in western and north-western Afghanistan, Herat, Badghis, and Nimroz Provinces in particular
- Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring and evaluation, and programme development
- Experience of geographical access negotiation and representation, including with local authorities, I/NGOs, and communities
- Good communication skills, with capacity to directly influence and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal

NRC is looking for a National Wash Project Manager in Herat -Afghanistan. Our Ideal candidate should have:
- Technical WASH expertise,
- Very strong leadership skills
- Very good experience in project management
- Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position
- Knowledge of the context in western and north-western Afghanistan, Herat, Badghis, and Nimroz Provinces in particular;
- Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring and evaluation, and programme development;
- Experience of geographical access negotiation and representation, including with local authorities, I/NGOs, and communities.
- Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts and in managing a multi grants projects.
Role and responsibilities
The purpose of the WASH Project Manager position is to implement WASH project portfolio comprised of the NRC Afghanistan’s WASH activities and programme in western region, as well as relevant staff mentoring and capacity development. S/he is also responsible for the overall planning and coordination of all WASH interventions, either directly within the WASH CC or as an integrated approach across other CCs, across the Area Office, including in the two sub-offices, Badghis and Nimroz.
- Line management for project staff
- Wash Strategies development Contribute to the development of Country, Area and WASH strategies, initiate and participate in the development of relevant WASH projects
- Projects Management: Effective and efficient management of the WASH projects across Herat, Badghis, and Nimroz
- Reports: Provide regular progress reports to the Area Manager and the WASH Specialist
- Building Capacities: Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
- Networking and collaboration: Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
- Project Planning Contribute towards drawing up plans, proposals, and budgets for new projects/extensions of projects in conjunction with the relevant team, both programme and support staff;
- Budget Management : Overall budget management for all the WASH projects/portfolio implemented in the Area, including the projects implemented in Badghis and Nimroz
- Technical Support: Responsible for providing technical and implementation support and guidance to field-based WASH staff in implementing NRC project(s)
Skills, Knowledge and Experience;

We offer:
- National contract until end of December 2022 (renewable).
- Monthly Salary based on NRC Afghanistan Salary Scale.
