How can you make a difference?

Under the supervisor of WASH Specialist at NOC level, the WASH Officer will provide technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process. Some of your major tasks include prepares, manages and implements a variety of technical and administrative tasks, related to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH output results of the country Programme. As a WASH Officer, you will be responsible for Programme development, management and planning through drafting updates for WASH in the situation analysis and researching and reporting on trends in WASH. Also, as the incumbent of this post, you provide technical and operational support for Programme implementation in collaboration with different partners through undertaking field visits and surveys. You will also have a role in the humanitarian WASH preparedness by studying and fully understating UNICEF procedures for responding in an emergency to ensure UNICEF is prepared to deliver on its commitments for WASH in case of an emergency. Furthermore, you have to build and sustain close working partnership with counter government counterparts and national stakeholders through active sharing of information and knowledge to facilitate Programme implementation and build capacity of stakeholders to achieve WASH output results.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have

Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field. Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are a strong asset.

Experience: a minimum of two years of professional work experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required.

Language: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset
