You have:

  • Take full responsibility for WASH in Fragile Context interventions in aligning with the approved budget.
  • Lead continuous project monitoring in accordance with DIP, tracking project progress.
  • Facilitate gender-sensitive WASH practices through conducting awareness sessions.
  • Assist in WASH assessment process in targeted fragile areas.
  • Liaison with government departments and WASH Committees to implement project activities.
  • Ensure proper project monitoring, timely Reporting and documentation.
  • Create linkages among Community Management Committee and local entrepreneurs.
  • Provide support for capacity building of WASH facilitators to expedite project interventions.

The purpose of this position is to contribute in implementation of the WASH in Fragile Context Place-based Initiative (WASH in FC- PBI) related activities as well as supporting the overall WASH Business Plan 2026-2030 when needed, particularly within WASH sector, working closely with the Sector Portfolio Manager, DME lead, project managers/coordinators. The WASH Officer reports to the Sector Portfolio Manager. He/She is expected to work closely with the other project officers for an integrated and aligned approach to WASH implementation across the organisation. The WASH Officer will lead the implementation, facilitation, and provide support with planning in design, monitoring and evaluating of the initiative.

The key objectives of the position are as follows:

  • Take full of responsibility to accomplish the WASH in Fragile Context place base initiative interventions timely with quality in aligning with the approved budget and by following the government and donor standards for WASH programming.
  • Take lead for continuous project monitoring in accordance with DIP, tracking project progress and need base reporting to donor timely.
  • Maintain high level of coordination, communication for inter sector integration and for joint planning to achieve the project goal.
  • Take responsibility for Community mobilization through session, meeting on WASH considering Gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Facilitate for need base advocacy for WASH service improvement and coverage aligning with the donor guidance, following government policy and by effectively engaging all level of internal and external entities including respective Government departments.
  • Facilitate gender sensitive WASH practices in community, school and health centers through conducting different awareness/training session; improved personal hygiene practices, demonstration of hand washing at community level, organize MHM (Menstrual hygiene Management) campaign etc.
  • Assist in WASH assessment process in the targeted fragile geographical areas following specific and appropriate technology for comprehensive planning.
  • Liaison with different government department, WASH Committees to implement project activities.
  • Work with different entrepreneurs, different ethnic groups, local community leaders (chiefs), Faith leaders, service providers for establishing community networking and coordination in access to facilities and services.
  • Support to establish and follow up community led monitoring, maintenance and functionality of WASH services.
  • Create linkage among Community Management Committee, WASH Committees, local private entrepreneur, government.
  • Assist in Data collection in baseline/midline/end line and reporting.
  • Ensure proper project monitoring and timely Reporting, documentation and preparing Case study/Impact story.
  • Assist, Guide and support the WASH Engineering facilitators and WASH Facilitators to expedite the project interventions through an effective planning and monitoring including their capacity building as appropriate.
